Default prop for a 46AX

Ihave a 46ax that Ihave a mas 11-6 on, I'm wanting a good prop for hovering. Iwas thinking about a apc12-4 or 5. what do you guys think? what is a good prop for this engine for 3D flying?

I like my 12x4, but the 12.25x3.75 is a wicked beast! My trainer would almost hover with it. It depends on the plane though too, but you will have the best results with the big low pitch props.

Iagree with Brett. 12.25x3.75 APC. Great prop for that engine.

I find the APC 12x4 spools up a bit quicker than the APC 12.25x3.75 and the little thrust that is lost is worth it to me.

12.25x3.75 APC.  I use one on my Magic with a .46fx.  It hovers nice, and has enough to pull out.  I say try them both (12x4) and see which one suits you, and your aircraft better.  </p>

+1 for the 12.25 X 3.75. I've run it and a 12x4 on my Somethin Extra /.46ax. This plane is a little heavy for a .46 and won't hardly hover with the 12x4, but it willwith the 12.25 X 3.75.

12x4 rocks on my TT PRO 46 on a 4.5 pound plane.

Am I the only guy who mounted an APC 14X4 on mine? I love that combo.

A 14 x 4 would be considered overly-large for the .46 AX.  What RPM are you running?  The engine will give its best performance if you prop it to run 12,500 RPM to 13,000 RPM when leaned to just rich of peak RPM on the ground.

Any propeller that will allow the engine to turn in that RPM range and fly your airplane as you desire is the "correct" propeller.
