You can also take a sample of your covering to the Home depot and they will mix up a perfect match in latex paint. You will then need to clear coat it to protect the paint from fuel. I am also told that some automotive paint shops will also make you the same color paint. Good Luck, Dave

Unless you are going to be doing a lot of painting then Radio South. Ihave still been able to get the Ultra paint at my LHS, Iguess he has stocked up before they quit making the matching paint?
Question for RED: How much is RS getting for a can of paint. So far Ihave bought the paint before Icover so Iknow I have the match before I do the covering. Limits my designs but it saves a bunch of the problems finding the paint. Ihave 6 or 7 cans of different colors in stock but it's going fast helping out friends with there planes.

it really doesn't come in a can. They sell a sprayer contraption that I have to say does the job.

10 oz primer 29 bucks
8 oz of paint 45 bucks
8 oz clear 21 bucks
acitivator 4 bucks
reducer 18 bucks

I wouldn't pay that much for my own stuff, but I built a top flite skylane for a dude that wanted to match his skylane.

like I said, damn expensive, but all in all about what you'd spend geting a custom color at the auto paint shop, It does stand up to ys 20/20 blend.

Keep in mind it's urathane with activator, it is very toxic and the activator is know to cause harm to the nervous system. So if you do use the paint, ventalate and wear a high quality resperator mask that is designed to remove and scrub the incoming air of any chemicals other than plain-jane air. I have a friend that sprays for a living, he won't even consider going anywhere near it without one.

That just made Klass Kote look better and better. KK is a two part epoxy, bullet proof, mixes about 50/50 and is easy to work with. Ijust thought it was over priced. It's just like the old K&B two part epoxy. Really good stuff.
Iwas told radio South was handling the Ultra paint, didn't know it was a mix and spray.

Comparing top quality automotive paint to a hobby paint... of course the auto paint is more expensive, it is also a superior paint. The Radio South stuff is just color matched PPG Concept automotive paint. It is a single stage catalyzed paint, two parts, i.e. paint and hardener. This paint is much better than what the typical consumer is used too. As for price, top quality paint is not cheap. I've used the paint from Radio South, see photo. I painted that plane with the PPG Concept from Radio South. I've also had PPG Deltron and PPG Omni matched at the local auto paint store to covering. The Deltron two stage is very nice, and my preferred paint, but it is not cheap. I just painted a jet tonight with PPG Deltron bases. Very quick to work with, can mask next color in 10 minutes, and awesome finish.

Sorry about the formatting gibberish. I've tried to nuke the contents of my post and the then post , but there seems to be a bug in the RCU interface.<w:worddocument><w:view></w:view></w:worddocument></xml><w:latentstyles deflockedstate="false" defunhidewhenused="true" defsemihidden="true" defqformat="false" defpriority="99" latentstylecount="267"><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="9" qformat="true" name="heading 5"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="9" qformat="true" name="heading 6"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="9" qformat="true" name="heading 7"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="9" qformat="true" name="heading 8"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="9" qformat="true" name="heading 9"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 1"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 2"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 3"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 4"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 5"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 6"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 7"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 8"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="39" name="toc 9"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="35" qformat="true" name="caption"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="10" semihidden="false" unhidewhenused="false" qformat="true" name="Title"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="1" name="Default Paragraph Font"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="11" semihidden="false" unhidewhenused="false" qformat="true" name="Subtitle"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="22" semihidden="false" unhidewhenused="false" qformat="true" name="Strong"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="20" semihidden="false" unhidewhenused="false" qformat="true" name="Emphasis"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="59" semihidden="false" unhidewhenused="false" name="Table Grid"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" unhidewhenused="false" name="Placeholder Text"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="1" semihidden="false" unhidewhenused="false" qformat="true" name="No Spacing"></w:lsdexception><w:lsdexception locked="false" priority="60" semihidden="false" unh

I've always liked Rustoleum, matching the paint as close as I can.
