Default About CA hinges..

I recently got a package of CA hinges from great planes. Looking at this package's instructions, I noticed it stresses the use of Thin CA to glue in the hinges. I only have a bottle of medium and thick CA (Flash). Should I also buy myself a new bottle of thin CA, or will the medium CA be ok to use?

Get thin CA.

Medium CA will depsit solids in the hinge line, leading to premature hinge failure. The medium will also fail to "wick" into the hinge slot, giving a poor bond at best... and often will not penetrate more than 1/8 inch. (just enough to feel like the hinge is secure, and then let go shortly into the first flight)

The thinner the CA used with the hinges, the better. I've gotten better results with CHEAP stuff that doesn't seem to hold other things well, than with Zap or Jet brand. (which are great for any other place you'd want to use CA...) The cheap stuff soaks in better, and the chemical treatment of the CA hinge material delays the, already somewhat slow, cheap CA's setting, for deeper penetration and a better bond.

Well, that's the answer I was expecting really, I was just checking before spending another 10$C for a bottle of glue

Any CA that is labeled "Thin" will work for the hinges. The original "Super Glue" brand (Still says "As seen on TV!" on the labels, though the last commercial for it I've seen was about 10 years ago... The guy gluing his hard hat to a beam and hanging by it.) which comes in small hard plastic bottles, 2 or 3 bottles to a card, and often at .50 cents per bottle at "Dollar" stores is one of the best I've foun for the hinges.
