RC Report Magazine!!!

Kit reviews? You want kit reviews?
In the August issue of R/C REPORT Online, there will be the first part of a kit review on a 106" Ugly Stick from AMR in Canada. This will be an introduction, some basic assembly steps and a full flight review including video. The second part in September issue will be a full building article, with more than 50 photos.
BTW, in the last 2 years, I built 5 kit models as review articles:
Balsa USA 1/3 scale Fokker D-VII
20% de Havilland Beaver
1/4 scale L-19 Bird Dog (this will be in High Flight magazine)
1/4 scale Concept Fleet
Trainer 26 reviewed right here on RCU
Plus the huge Ugly Stick
Oh, that makes 6 kits.
Plus many ARFS, too numerous to count up.
When nore kits become available, we'll build them.
But remember this. They have to be new kits, not ones that have been out for years.

I wouldn't give 10 cents to subscribe to that. I get all the RC info I want right here on rcuniverse and the internet for FREE!
When I get those monthly magazines for joining ama that magazine goes from my mail box to the trash can!

I always tried to keep a few old issues of any flying mags with me, when I went to the flying field. Some years back, I gave a copy or 2 of RC Report to a guy who showed up at the field. I said, when you get tired of looking at the pictures in the 'glossy' mags....try 'reading' the RC Report, if you really want to learn about this sport.
He did, he's been flying , building from kits and yes, assembling some ARF's too. Dang, he even has some nicer stuff then I do ! The best part is, we have become really good friends over the last few years.
I'm glad RCR is online now.......I do miss having the mag to carry around ......and the smiley faces to look for

Yes, AMA will send your copy to school or library of your choice or cancel your subscription all togther, whatever you want. There are some that don't want MA going anyplace where it might be seen by prospective young or older flyers and "contaminate" them. Believe it or not.
Here is such a statement made by one, "No, I don't want my issues sent to a school, and I don't want it sent to the Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, Hospital, Orphanage (do they still have those?), nor any other location that children of impressionable age would be found." "I don't want them to send my copy to anyone of impressionable age, since I wouldn't want them exposed to this level of crap."

Here is such a statement made by one in the RCU AMA forum where getting or opting out of the magazine was discussed at length, "No, I don't want my issues sent to a school, and I don't want it sent to the Boy Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, Hospital, Orphanage (do they still have those?), nor any other location that children of impressionable age would be found." Bad Shirt {I can call him Bad Shirt, we shop at the same places!!
} Glad to see you show up on this thread. I was expecting Ed here a while back so he could join in. I was going to post some of the builds you have done but like was mentioned, I did other things with my magazines after I read them a few times so I couldn't remember them all.
I would leave them in Barber Shops with directions of our local fields writen inside them. Leave them off at my local library and bring them out to the field and let the other guys go through them. Gave them to friends and students. Even left some at my wood shop club so the guys could figure out what all the wood I was cutting was being used for. I discovered there were a bunch of RC modelers here in my area that way.
The point to my little ramble is this, don't ever just toss out your old RC magazines, no mater what one you read. Leave them around with a contact number inside, you would be surprised how many new students and club members you will get this way, not to mention new friends.

To be honest, kit reviews/ ARF reviews don't cut it. I need those old school articles which were either original designs or scratch built scale projects. Anything less seems lame.
In that regard, RCR sold out the same as the other mags. I don't understand the fan loyalty. The "how to" articles ? RCR might use an extra 500 words to right a "how to" article, but in the end, the "how to " articles are almost always for neophites. Rarely does a "how to' article contain any new information for the experienced modeller.
