Default Adding one more!!!

finally back from travel and hope to be home for awhile. Have been flying twice since i got back home. both times with the parkzone typhoon3d All good flights except one. I was on final aprroach and looking good got about a foot off the ground and it just rolled to the right. There was no wind, perfect flight and conditions. Foam broke just behind the engine mount. LHS is a stone throw from the field, so I took it in, hot glued it back together and went for another flight. This time flew well, with no problems with the landing. When I got home I was checking everything over and noticed the the elevator servo was really tight! When I grab the elevator and try to move it, it will not budge. I can move it with the servo horn. I'm thinking it's too tight and might have been what caused the crash landing.
Anyway. I'm selling my Tucano, I luv the plane, the way it flys, and looks, but want to get a twist 40 with a 55 Ax two stroke. Will most likely get the twist this week. Can't wait to fly that. Other than that I will be hopefully flying the trainer this weekend. I don't feel I'm ready to solo nitro yet. Getting with an instructor this weekend. Although all the guys at the field are saying, if I can handle the typhoon, then nitros will be no problem. I beg to differ. cause there is so much more to be taught and learn than simply flying. Things like, Tx setup, mixing, Throw adjustment, trim adjustment, battery charging, balance etc.... etc.... I'm getting the hang of all that, but want to be one of those guys (like alot of you) that can just look at the plane and tell for example,; that the elevator or aileron rods need to be adjusted. In my opionion I will be a good pilot when I understand all I need to know to fly safely. And that will take some time, and all that is before I'll even think about hovering, harriers, etc... Although with the typhoon, I am tempted.

I echo their opinions, if you can handle the Typhoon even on low rates, you could handle any nitro trainer and most intermediate nitro planes. I've flown a Tyhpoon and they're pretty squirely in the wind. I've never flown a Twist, but I doubt it is much more responsive than a Typhoon. Get that Typhoon up about tree high and try some hovering, it's a lot cheaper to fix than that Twist will be!!

The Twist is one of my favorite fun planes .On low rates it handles pretty well but can bite you in a heart beat, I also have the Typhoon, and fly it very little, really dont care much for the way it flies compared to the bigger , heaveir planes.
Keep the prop pitch down on the Twist . I fly mine with a Saito .72 and a 14x4 wide apc prop and start off with the CG set at the nose heavy mark till you get use to it. /Make sure you program some expo in your radio too.
Be prepared when you go to high rates, the Twist will roll so fast the it becomes a blur. A hard landing and I meen not really that hard will break them right behind the wing .

THanks for the encouragement and advice. Will try hovering the typhoon next flight up! I plan on keeping the twist on low rates for at least the first 12 or so flights. AS far as expo goes. I'm still confused as top what expo actually does. I'm still running JR FM. Haven't switched to 2.4 yet.
THanks again.

I'll second moondoggie on the Twist. Its a go where you point it plane which is happier at a slower speed than flying fast. To me its just a big park flyer. It'll slow way down for approach and is rock solid, but it'll bite if you're not careful. I've worn the covering off the bottom of the tail on my Twist 60 (TT .61 Pro powered) landing tail first - I have more fun dragging it in just above stall speed. With high rates it's more fun than a barrel of monkeys! I'm not sure if the Twist 40 has this issue, but as the Twist 60 burns fuel down it requries about 5 or 6 clicks of trim to compensate for the CG change. I usually fly the tank out and dead stick it in.
