Best prop for a O.S. 55AX
#5
It also depends on the airplane and what you want to do with it. For instance, I had a .55-Ax on a 3D profile and an APC 13x4 was great while an APC 11x8 worked excellent in a WM Rampler sport plane using the same engine. My advice is to buy a variety of props and decide which one you like best for the application.

This week I had a 12x7APC, 11x6Evolution, and 12x6MAS prop on my 55AX. It's still working it's way into making more power and the 12x7 was too much load for it (10%nitro). The others worked very well, and I found the 12x6 to be the best combination of speed and pull. I'm hoping a 12x7 will be just right after another few gallons and the engine is making max power.
It all depends on what you like for that plane. Give a few props a shot.

Try some of the smaller Xoar wooden or nylon props a shot too. www.franktiano.com has a good selection and so does www.swanyshouse.com I believe. I have their wood 13x4 on my GP Cap-580 and it works very well. I also tried a wood 12x6 that worked great, just wanted the plane a little slower. I think I may actually like the Xoars a little better than APC & Graupners dependign on the application.
I believe Vess is making some smaller props now too.
Believe it or not some of the Turnigy & other low-cost props from Hobby City seem to perform great too.
