Default Phoenix Dolphin, How are they?

My dad is looking at getting something different after crashing his nexstar. I herd that the Dolphin is a good second plane, And herd it will slow down and float like a trainer. Anyone have one or flown one out there? Please let me know how they are. Thanks.

It is a great plane. In fact I had a battery fire in mine and I'm just now getting around to getting it all back together for my daughters second plane. It is A+

I really liked my Dolphin. Plenty capable and yet incredibly easy to fly. Oh yeah, and CHEAP!

Been flyin one for about 6 months now. Great 2nd plane. They come with all control surfaces pre-installed with pinned hinges and the covering was near perfect. You'll have it from the box to the air in an afternoon. You may want to change out the pilot figure. It looks like a lumberjack. Also, the wire landing gear on mine lasted 2 landings. I put the set on from an old ultrastick.

gaRCfield, I like that gear on it. What kind of gear is it? Did you pull it off another plane or buy it new? Thanks.

Dubro super strength landing gear:

I painted it and cut the holes. Plane took a very small amount of modification in the nose to adapt (a hardwood block glued to the existing gear block, then drilled and tapped for 1/4-20 nylon bolts).

I make my own from aluminum from the hardware store. Buy a 6ft piece , make make two sets for less than the price of one ready made set.

The dolphin is a HONEY ! Will do all you can ask for and more, yet easy and stable to land. With a .52 and 11x6 prop goes vertical forever. Can knife edge quite well and even does a great flat spin.

This is a hidden treasure.

I cannot believe tey are so cheap. I'm getting another to put on floats next season.
