Get a 46 sized 2C ... even with that she will be nose heavy. A 4C would be nice but heavy. Perhaps you can push the RX pack as far back as you can get it.

a 55ax would make it great, and a 70 4 stroke would be nice too

Hi

I have had an Irvine 46 Mk III, an OS 46 AX, an OS 55 AX and a Saito FA56 on mine. All of them flew the plane nicely.

I think the OS 46 AX was the best in terms of performance and flight time. The OS 55 AX made it a high speed monster but with the smalish tank that comes with the plane the flight times where about 8 minutes.

The Saito FA 56 was also very nice but a tad underpowered and needed a lot of tail weight, but if I ever put another one together with a four stroke, I would also put a 72 up front.

But with all those engines it still came out nose heavy even after putting the engine as far back on the mount as possible and the battery as far back as possible. In terms of CG the OS 46 AX was the best. Without any weight it balanced on the foremost recommended balance point. But I added 20 grams to the tail just to make it a tad more tail heave and responsive.

So at the end of the day, I would suggest any good 46 two stroke.

If you fly her hard then the fuse area in front of the H stab will crack. This is only when you fly her really hard. So watch out. I still enjoy mine and its EP so no CG issues. Turning a 14x7 she can pull nice big loops.

I've flown mine with both a Saito 82
and a OS 70 4 strokes. Both are a
great engines, the Saito is more fuel
hungry though.

For about the price of a .55 AX you could just go ahead and buy a Thunder Tiger F-75s, they're $169.99 with free shipping at http://www.thundertiger4u.com right now. If you'd rather save some cash and stick with a fast, reliable two-stroke then give the Thunder Tiger Pro .46 a try. It will fly a Big Stik .40 ARF with plenty of power on tap.

If neither of these choices is expensive enough, then you should order an Enya 50CX from http://www.enya-engine.com Enya's are wonderful engines that are very powerful and very reliable. The 50CX will set you back about $215 plus shipping.

The facts ma'am, nothing but the facts ....

OS 46 LA 12.0
OS 46 FX 17.2
OS 46 AX 17.4
Ev .52 NX 17.7
Mag XLS 46 16.0
Saito 56 15.8
Saito 82 17.6

I too pickup up a Big Stik 40 at a club meeting. I planted a side-mounted Saito 82 on it. This required a bit of tweaking to get it to balance. I moved the elevator and rudder servos to the rear fuse just ahead of the tail feathers. The throttle servo was positioned near the back of the fuse's wing box. The battery was mounted just in front of the rear wing box former. The switch was mounted at the rear of the wing box. I added a tank hatch on the bottom. I converted it to a tail dragger using a tail wheel from a Skyraider.

No lead needed to balance ...

Pic 1 - THROservo tray - battery was mounted just under the wing mount
Pic 2 - holes for the ELEV &RUDDservos. Also, stock was added to support the fin (it broke off in the hanger_
Pic 3 - Skyraider tail wheel
Pic 4 - LG , hatch & SIGmount
Pic 5 - Saito 82
Pic 6 - blind nuts for tail wheel

I had one with a Magnum .52 on the nose. Great combo. It would climb vertical until I stopped it. It had almost enough to hover. Great engine and it is on sale right now.

Free shipping and no tax for you, faulknej
