I'm looking for advice on what floats would be good to mount on my LT-40 in order to both fly it off snow this December and off water after that. I'm hoping to spend less than $75 and want some kind of rudder control built in for the water.
I'm thinking of upgrading the 46AX engine to a used 70 or 80 size four stroke to give it some extra torque on take off as well.
Any suggestions or tips would be appreciated.

Here is a video of my plane.

Those look really good. I wonder how they'd be off snow? Any idea?

I had good success building my own this year, but if I was to try to shortcut it a little bit, I would check out either http://www.seaplanesupply.com/ or http://www.geocities.com/planefunfloats/ As for hardware I would pick up an Ernst Water Rudder kit from the LHS or other places, and make your brackets using 1/8" aluminum bar stock from HomeDepot or Lowes. (I used 3/4" width for a 36 size and would recommend the same for you).
If you are interested in scratching your own PM me and I can fill you in on how I did mine out of pink foam, Spruce, balsa sheeting and fiberglass.
Best Regards,
Curtis
