Default Hinge question

I'm working on an Avistar ARF and have a hinge question.

On the Ailerons I used the CA hinges that came with the plane. The instructions say "minimal gap" between the aileron and the trainling edge of the wing.

I wound up with a noticable gap and was wondering how much is too much? The Avistar has a leading edge that isn't really flat it's kinda concave to accept the beveled leading edge of the aileron - making it kind of hard to get an accurate measurement of how much gap I have.

Basically I can "BARELY" get a T-Pin into the gap and out the other side without forcing it.

Can I get by with this much gap because it's probably I'm guessing 1/16th of an inch maybe 3/32".

So can I leave it like this as it came out straight from end to end with just enough gap to barely put a T-Pin thru the gap. I plan on adding a strip of monokote to seal the gaps on the aileron anyway and the bond on the hinges came out really strong (I pulled to find out).

If you are going to seal the gap I wouldn't worry about it. Sealing the hinge gaps will make a big difference in the way your plane flies.

Sounds like you got it just right...I actually use a T-pin to set the gap on all my control surfaces. You did it right!

Sealing the gap is even better. It really adds to the effectiveness of the surface, especially at slow speeds. You've got nothing to worry about...
