Looking for parts
I used to fly about 20 years ago. Just getting back in and I bought out a guy getting out. Many goodies were in the box which also included 2 OS max fp 60's, one ofwhich is missing the carb. I have looked high and low. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to look or who might have one. Also, does anyone know who might have parts for a Magnum Pro 45. I know they are old butthey have great compression and the 45 runs pretty good.

RE: Looking for parts
I once found a carb for an old OS engine (OS 40 fp) by going to the OS home page, finding an exploded view of the engine, getting the exact part number, and Googling just the part number. I found 6 shops that had the carb in stock.

RE: Looking for parts
Luchnia, let me know if interested in getting rid of them.
Jerry, I've tried searching but will continue
Gray Beard, I've searched all through tower but haven't spoken with anyone, I'll try that next. Also IO haven't tried Hobby People just Hobby-Lobby.
Was really hoping to just find someone who had an extra one laying around, you know, kinda take the hassle out of it but that's what happens when you buy someone else's junk.

You don't necessarily have to buy the same carb that was originally on those engines either. If the outlet size matches and the venturi is within 10% or so, it will work.

RE: Looking for parts
I don't use the magnums myself but most of the guys at the field that started out with them have a bunch under the bench and use them for parts engines. If you belong to a club just ask around. I'm sure someone will have a carb. Like Jester says, if you find one that fits it will probably work. The OS home page is the other good idea, I would go there and ask. I don't have any parts for the 60s at all any longer. One of my LHS {local hobby shops} has a big box of old engines and parts, if you have any real hobby shops in your area most of them have the same thing. Chain stores usually just sell new stuff. Hobby People is the distributor for magnum but when they wear out or break most people just toss them, sort of like the OS LA series, they don't cost enough to worry over. The OS are another story and well worth fixing or rebuilding in most cases. Maybe look on the main glow engine forum.

RE: Looking for parts
Here is the parts listing for the os engine.
http://www.osengines.com/parts/xr16100.html
the carburetor is discontinued so it will be hit or miss finding one.
A Perry carburetor (#1300S, $46.50) http://www.perrypumps.com/prod01.htm#os is an option if you can't find anything else.

Here's the best place for factory original out of date parts, not sure if he has what you need but you can ask.

RE: Looking for parts
Thanks guys, gave me a lot to look at. As far as asking other club members I'm not in one yet and was really hoping to get lucky here. Figured some of the old crusties like me would have some parts laying around. Appreciate it much.

acalkins1957 -
I have a Mag Pro .45 here that I pulled off my Kavalier this past summer, it has new bearings and was running pretty good the last time out. I'll let you have it for $30, shipped - and I'll even throw in a NIP crankcase, prop driver and whatever else I can find for it.
Sound good?

RE: Looking for parts
As Carrell mentioned above, Perry carbs work very well. I've replaced two carbs on O.S. engines that were no longer made and they haved worked very well. Cheap and easy to set up. Just measure the I.D. of the carb mouting base on the engine and order one that has the same O.D. throat. The venturi size will be close enough and is not that critical anyway for sport flying. You may have to talk to a tech rep to get it correct, but it's worth a try.
