i'm looking to get a new radio.Ive only been using the one that my typhoon 2 came with. i would like one that will control both heli and airplanes because i am also looking to get into helis as well.i am also going to get a heli maxx 400.
also i am really new to radios. what do i need to get . if i buy a radio system what do i need to get to get it to work on my typhoon2 . i am also going to get a heli maxx 400. i want the radio to be capable of anything i will need for 3d stunts and smooth flying. i also want it to be able to control many types of aircraft as well as different sizes.what radio would anyone recommend. i looking at the dx7 or the Futaba 7C 7-Channel 2.4GHz. any opinion and help is greatly appreciated. thanks

I personally have used all the manufactures radios, so I'm not going to ive you an answer, but my only suggestion is to go and hold the two your talking about. Sometimes just the description isn't going to be enough, holding it and feeling where the switches are and how it fit's your hands is more important than the features. I have flown jr to hitec, and all have strong points and weak points, it all boils down to how egronomic the controller is in my hands. Nothing like trying to find the idleup switch while working the tail rotor, if you get my drift. BTW, I'm currently trying airtronics, still the verdict is out, but I'm liking it so far.

Plane is right. You really gotta just go try holding them.
For me, and a good radio on a budget, I went with the Spektrum DX6i. Had all the options I wanted/needed and will work for heli's as well. If you plan on getting big into nitro heli's I suggest going with 7 channels (like the DX7) as you may need that 7th channel with the glow heli's. I don't fly large heli's so maybe someone else can answer that question.

The way they feel in your hands is as important as anything else. If they do not feel good, you will not be happy.
I have flown most of the radios too, I like Airtronics. The RDS8000 is a good radio. Should fit the bill for any type of flying you intend to do.

Ialso recently switched to the RDS 8000. Ireally like it. It fits well in my hands. I looked at the new SD-10G yesterday, and it felt strange to me, a lot bigger.
With the new receivers from Airtronics, the RD will suit my needs for a long time. Ican't wait to get the new Park Flyer Rx, I've been wanting to try some of the Plug and Play airplanes, although the LiPo's scare me.
Hobby People has the RDS 8000 with an 8 channel Receiver for $159.00. It's a great radio!
