You can use your existing radio with no problems. But you need to find out the info on your ESC as that's where your problem is. Many ESC's out there have an "arming sequence" that you have to go through. Some will need for the throttle to be brought to the idle position, while others require idle to full throttle and back to idle, and other have different procedures to arm the ESC. What brand of ESC does it have??
Arming usually only affects the throttle, you should be able to control the other control surfaces even without the throttle not responding. Do you get any type of control out of it at all?? Can you take a picture of how you have your receiver, battery, ESC hooked up??

That plane requires mixing for elevons. And I don't know if that radio will do it. Sometimes the throttle needs to be reversed on some ESC TX combo's.BW

You need to set your radio for an elevon mix. The controls on the back are both your elevators and your ailerons. Unless you have a computer radio you won't be able to set this up. You don't want a V-tail setup as those are a mix of rudders and elevators, which is different from an elevon setup.

Dopey -Yes I think so..If it was built into the radio you would have to use rudder(channel 4) and elevator(channel 2).If it was seperate (on the plane)You would use Channels 1 and2 for the mix and 3 for the throttle. I am not sure I do not own a Hitec but from what I see in there description this would work.- But you would have no ailerons and you would be rolling with the rudder.-BW

Dopey - I've never seen it before but it doesn't look like it will be a trainer. It looks like it will have a very fast roll rate. If you could give me some info on the motor I could give you more info on its intended purpose. KV? Dia? Length?
As far as a radio- tell me your budget and I will give you some choices.
$59.00 shipped 2.4 ghz 6 channel from Hobby King ...I would not recommend.
to
$2289.00 Futaba 14mz 2.4 ghz Shipped from Tower Hobbies...Recommend but YIKES buy me one too.
And there is a ton of them in between. seriously how much you got
$115.00 for a Tower 6XM 6 channel FM
$129.00 for a Futaba 6EXP FM 6 channel
$185.00 for a Airtronics 8 channel 2.4 ghz -If you got it get it
The JR and Spectrum guys will say different but cost you more. But they are nice radios too....BW
