Default Gyros

I was told there are gryos that are made for planes; does anyone know where I can find them?

Well the lowest price one intended for fixed wing is the Hobbico Piezo Gyro, single axis, single servo and without adjustable gain from the Tx. On sale from Tower in the lastest Tower talk 64.95 if I remember correctly. I just received one today.

There is really no differance in the gyro itself between airplane and rotor use. Generally the difference is in features and in cases of the very sophisticated ones is in features like being able to adjust gain (sensitivity) from the Tx in flight and operate multiple servos through dual ports.

Generally the most common use's for fixed wing are making straight takeoffs with problamatical airplanes such as some warbirds and multi engine aircraft that have straight takeoff problems due to ueven spooling up of the engines on throttle up. Another big multi engine advantage is it will automatically apply appropriate rudder imput into the good engine upon the loss of an engine. This provides critical time for the pilot to identify and react. Another fixed wing use is for threeD flight, hovering torque rolls etc. In this case two would be used one on elevator and one on rudder.

The one I just received will be my first use on a multi and is going into the airplane in my Avitar. I have flight tested some Warbirds for folks, who had them installed on rudder and the improvement is dramatic. They work great!

John

I made a correction above, I inadvertantly said when two are used for 3D one is on rudder and the other is on ailerons. but the correction is use on rudder and elevator
