I agree! I'm dying here! Although we've had a very mild winter, I only get to fly on the weekends and so far the weather just won't co-operate! I've got my fingers crossed for tomorrow morning, but the weather report is looking like rain [:@]

Thanks to Global Freezing,I won't be able toteach my studentsSunday, because of 20 degree F in Louisiana. I needed a break, high performance planes were making me VERY bored. Hope I can find the flame again.

Make it work for you. I've got four airframes in various stages of assembly/disassembly/reassembly to get ready for Spring. Made some changes to my shop and wired in another much needed wall outlet in my "hanger". Winter is the time for building and alterations.
When the weather's cold and blustery,

Up here in the Canadian Rockies, we just get some skis.
Seriously, we build lots in the winter, then go all out during the "flying season". I've got 2 giants to maiden (1 kit on the table, ARF soon to arrive) and a race truggy to break in as well. If the weather co-operates we get to the park with the 1Kg electrics, some on skis, some without. We do fly indoors at the high school once a week to keep the rust outta the thumbs.

I gotta tell you guys.. The weather prediction was for a dusting of snow today. It was supposed to go south of us here in New Jersey. I live in Atlantic County, which is considered "south Jersey" but not as south as Cape May or Cumberland and Salem counties. They were supposed to get more than we were.
Well, it's 1851 ... 6:51PM, the big hand is on the..... and we now have close to a foot on the ground. Yeah, dusting. Right.
NO joy this weekend, that's for sure, you see, none of my planes have ski's on them. Blah.. []

NY winters are terrible as well. I usually use the dead time in the winter to build, fly my G4.5 Simulator on MP and come in here to talk R/C when I'm not working my regular job.

I'm still flying, but not below 5°F (-15°C). When it's cold, I don't stay hours outside, I just do 2 flights and then I go back home. I think I'm the only one in my club to fly during winter. The other ones fly indoor.
And I'm also waiting forward spring.

I don't understand why you feel so crippled by the snow and the cold. If it gets to the high 20's here in Jan or Feb, I am saying hooray, but otherwise, order some skis from Tower and get out. Do you think it feels any warmer to us from the northland? No, we just deal with it, because if we don't, we have a sorry existence in the winter. Get out and fly, I love winter flying, the only thing that makes me disappointed is that fewer people do it, so I miss the comraderie.
Good Luck,
C

RE: spring Hurry please
The cold hasn't stopped me from flying. Last week was the first full week since I've been flying that Ididn't get a flight in. Ididn't fly because of the winds. Winter here brings 15-20 MPH direct crosswinds, with gusts to 45. All last week. THAT keeps me home. Ican do the 15-20, it's the gusts Idon't want to mess with.
