Default Buddy Box Question.

I have a SpektrumDX7 and an old JR XP6102. Can I use the JR as a buddy box? Do I have to pull out the antenna? Do I have to pull out the crystal? Do I need to turn on the JR? Also, what should I do about the settings on the JR? Will all controls be transmitted from the Spektrum DX7?

Tomorrow, I'm gonna go get a buddy cable and see if it will work. This coming Thursday is my very first flight and I'm gonna make sure I have an experienced pilot to maiden her first.

Spectrum and JR are the same. Whenever you are using a computer radio pick an empty model memory slot for training. I can't remember if the slave has to be on or not, but the battery has to be in it with a charge.....good luck in your trainning and welcome to the addiction

The slave radio does not have to be turned on as mentioned above, with the slave set on a vacant airplane model memory. Set the master radio your DX7 in P-Link mode, plug in the slave box and you should be good to go!

Is the link cable a special cable or is it the same as the MONO audio cable?

For JR/Spektrum the cable is a simple mono audio cable that can be purchased at Radio Shack.

Not true for Spectrum and JR, is true for Futaba. On Futaba, and I think Hitec, you do not have to have a battery in the slave but in JR and Spectrum, you do.
