Default Evo trainer system ( Problem with transition)

HI,

My son is flying the solo star trainer from hangar 9 , i installed an evo trainer system for him on the plane. the problem is as follow:

The engine will transition from low to full throttle when on the ground .. ( Great) But
when holding the plan in a vertical position, if i transition from low to high the engine will die ..
I have tried everything but cant seem to get what is wrong and why is the transition on the ground is fine but when in a vertical position it would die.
If i made the transition slowly, it will run fine, otherwise not. Since this is a trainer, i want to make sure that the engine is running fine to avoid dead sticks and crashes, any suggestion is appreciated.

Thank you
Cheers

Sounds like you may be lean on the low needle, when yougo vertical its harder for the fuel to go up hill, leaning the mixture. if your on the edge of adjustment it may be enough to kill the motor. For sure if your learning get it right befor you put it it the air.You may need to remove their stop to get adjusted in properly. Hope this helps

You might wanbt to make sure that the High Speed needle isn't walking itself outward toward the richer side on you. The retaining clip on mine was not snug and it was giving me deadsticks shortly after take off until I got this clip tight.

i removed the stop, engine running much better, more consistent. but not wow.. <div>i guess i have to settle for the tuning i did.. for a trainer engine.. that is a disappointing engine.. </div><div>why put a stop for the LSN if you have to remove to tune the engine... i have another EVO 52NX on my cherokee... much better than this stupied trainer system </div><div>Thank you all for your help .. would have never done it without you... </div><div>Cheers </div><div>

If you can put up with a little more noise, a few slight modifications will likely make you go from hateing that motor to likeing it (it did me).You will need a 10 dollar bill and 30minutes.First remove that 3 blade prop then press theflyweight off the prop drive plate (use two sockets and a hammer, the first socket with an o.d. less than drive plate and thesecond with an i.d. greater than drive plate then tap with light to medium force). Now reinstall prop drive plate install a 10x7 Master Airscrew prop and proper spinner. Now remove the baffle from inside the muffler. I also reccomend an OS A-3 glow plug. Retune you engine after all this you will have much more power and throttle. Dont forget to to rebalance your airplane you just made it about 3 oz's lighter I suggest moving the battery back if necessary.

Now put that 3 blade prop and spinner on Ebay, someone who doesnt know any better will buy it.
