I need a new wing for my Tower 40 RTF, but the wing costs $75. Has anybody tried using the Tower 40 ARF wing as a replacement for the Tower 40 RTF wing? Buying the ARF wing would save me quite a bit of money. The only difference that I can see is that the RTF wing comes with a metal dowel rod and screws to hold the wing halves together.
The ARF wing would require more work to assemble, and it makes more sense to buy the ARF wing if it will work on the RTF plane.
Thanks!

I can't imagine that it wouldn't fit. Trainers have flat bottomed wings, I would expect you could interchange almost any trainer wing with another of similar size.

Of course Tower Hobbies doesn't recommend it because they want people to purchase the RTF wing for more money. I plan on buying the ARF since $75 for the RTF is ridiculous.

I assume that since the RTF comes with the aluminum joiner tube, that the instructions do not include epoxying the wing halves together. My Alpha 40 wing was like this, they just told you to slide it on the tube and wrap it with tape. I epoxied mine anyway.
Without the tube, the ARF wing is probably a bit lighter. Not that it really matters much.
