Hello you!
I had a servo that busted a gear inside it. Its just a s3003 i think...maybe 3004...cant remember but no real difference to my question.
Is there a certain way this has to go back together? I fully understand where the gears go. But I mean do i need to "zero out" or "default" the little motor? I also noted that the part the servo horn hooks to has a small tab under it. Keeping it from spinning 360 degrees. Didnt know if that had to be set to a certain spot.
Im not sure how clear this comes across in text but it all makes sense in my head LOL! (not the problem but the question)

. But I had the gears in the store and noone really buys them, so i thought I would try to use em up. But it seemed like It was going to be too easy

ok first thing you do is put the last gear (the servo horn goes on) on the servo, then spin the gear so the little tab points away from the servo (parallel with the long side of the servo and not facing the middle of the servo)
that will set the servo pot, then take the last gear off and insert the rest of them. thats all you have to do, no reseting no nothing

The gear that the horn connects too needs to be centered with the pot centered under it. If it swings thru a 180 degree arc then it needs to be set at 90 degrees.
The motor is just like any other motor and can spin in either direction continuously so there is no set up there, it is the pot that tells it where the limits are.
Sounds like your talking about a Futaba 3003 so you got nice big gears to work with, just play with it till it makes sense in your hear.
This video show how the insides all go together, for the most part servos are all the same. I did notice in the video that the pot gear can only go on 1 way so it is not centered when it drops into place.

I am getting into the habit of taking digital pictures of anything that I take apart, as I take it apart.
That way, i can look back as where things were on step 3 or 4 etc. Probably won't help you if the original was stripped...but...can't hurt. I never print them out...I just leave them on the camera until I am done. Rich
