Default Futaba transmitter

Hi all. . My question is does all futaba t/x work with all futaba r/x. Got a very old futaba transmitter but can not get it to work with a new receiver. Currently refurbing a plane thats been in the loft for 10 years. At the testing stage of all the equipment. Will be getting a newer transmitter but it would make sense to get one thats compatable with the receiver i have. Also do all servoes work with all receivers ie the ones from my cars would they work in 35mhz equipment as the cars are 27mhz. Very new to the plane scene and your help would be much appreciated. Hope to chat again soon.

Depends on how old your transmitter is and the age of the receiver....of course the channels have to be the same......With the change to 2.4 gHz coming about...it would make sense to get a 2.4 system with a receiver.....then you're set with no freq board to worry about.....

If I remember correctly the very very old servos do not work with newer equipment.....how old I don't know

good luck

if the radio is from the early 80's then it might not be on the narrow band and if you use a more modern reciver it will not work

Another would not work issue would be a PCM receiver and a PPM transmitter. Futaba changed the servo plugs a few years back and at that time they sold a conversion kit for old to new if you had a new style receiver. Today all the Futaba servo's have the same plug and there is not many old ones floating around. As mentioned the radio world has been switching to 2.4 and the old 72 stuff is being phased out. You may want to consider a new radio or a used radio that has everything all matched up. Good Luck, Dave

If you post the actual model number of the transmitter and receiver it will help determine what might work. The picture below is a partial listing of discontinued Futaba transmitters so there are many variables.

There are always exceptions, but, most servos will work with most receivers. If your servos have the Futaba "J" connector they will plug in to a modern Futaba receiver with no issues. If they are old enough to have the "G" connector (discontinued in 1991) you can cut the connector off and replace it with a "J" connector. I've heard of adapters to connect G to J but have never seen one. Unless an old G servo is something really great I'd replace it with a new model.

the old style radios were am, so no the old tx wont work witha newer fm or pcm receiver, and pcm comes in three flavors 512, 1024,2048 resolution

For what you'll pay for individual components to piece together a system, you can buy a good beginner set with everything included.

Without a model number we do not know if it is AM or FM (PPM/PCM are both FM). The post says 'in the loft for 10 years' so it could be almost anything.
