What Motor Would you Use?
#1
I just purchased a used Pulse 60 in excellent condition...it came with an Evolution 61, i also have a well run magnum 91 fourstroke that i could use on her as well, and an OS 61 SF too

Well, I would want no less than a .90 2 stroke or a 1.25 four stroke on there. But any of the engines you listed would be equally anemic
I'll vote for the OS as you just cant go wrong with one.

I vote to give the Evolution .61 a try. Over the years, it's been reputed to be one of Evolution's best glow engines. My choice was also mitigated by the fact that it's already installed on the plane and ready to fly.
If the Magnum XL .91 RFS and the Evolution .61 were both side by side on your workbench, I'd say go with the Magnum. The Evo is already linked up, so you may as well take it for a spin. The Magnum might give you longer flying times with its four-stroke fuel economy, but overall power and flying characteristics should be similar.

Iwould give the Evolution a try. They definitely aren't my favorite engines but it is worth a shot since it sound slike it is already in the airplane. If you don't like it, yank it and sell it.

I would go with the OS 61 SF. I currently have a Pulse XT 60 with a OS 61 AX and it has all of the power needed for that plane. I also have three other planes with OS 61 SF's in them, GP Super Skybolt, GP Super Sportster 60 (20 years old), and a BH T28 Trojan. The 61 SF's pull all of them with authority.

i just finished running the 61SF and the 61 Evo....i get about 500 more rpm tuned to fly with the OS SF61 with the same prop(12x8 mas), glow plug(os f), and fuel(15%)...the only thing is i will be using the evolution muffler. I ran the FX style exhaust on the evolution engineand i lost about 200 rpm...at this point i want all the top end i can get
if i get tired of it i can always change engines..thats the good thing....

I had and Evolution .61 and found it to be a very good, reliable and powerful engine. The only thing I regret with it was selling it along with the plane it was attached to.
It started on the first flip all the time, transitioned and idled reliably, and over was a very good engine. It never once quit in flight unless I ran the plane out of fuel.
