hey guys, i finally flied the other day. the last coulple of days has been bad weather and my local club desingnates thursdays for flying and of course every thursday was bad weather. Anyway come the next thrusday it was way nice so i packed up my stuff and headed down to the field. I got there and there was another kid about my age (16) getting a lesson too. So the trainer told us the basics and all this, (you know how it goes, kinda treats us like baby pilots, but thats a good thing) how a glow engine works (i know have a T-MAXX....LOL). OK so he got his plane up and going. "someone step up he said" so after the other begginer was done it was my turn. for some reason i wasnt nervouse but i had sweaty palms and cotton mouth LOL. so he came and looked at my plane and got it all trimmed out and tuned a little better and put her in the air for the first time!! Man it was a cool feeling to see the plane i put together(even tho a ARF) and came down in one peice.
some of you are gunna think its nothin cause your good, and think trainers suck, but for me it was such a good feeling to see it in the air and to even fly a plane for the first time, and i didnt even do it that long either. cant wait till next week.!!
just thought i'de tell you about my experience, and thanks for listening to sometimes annoying begginers....LOL :spinnyeye

Avistarpilot, I remember that feeling ,still get it everytime I put one of my scratch or kit builts in the air, as for trainers I still have and fly one , and probly always will, there is no shame in a trainer plane ,
although the first few flights maybe short they are important , Glad you had a great time , it only gets better !!!

PS thanks for sharing your day with us I for one really like to read the experiances of others who share this hobby.

I'm quite a bit older than you, have a home and family, and am looking forward to ordering my own avistar and doing the same thing for the first time.
Went up to my local club to fly my Sky Scooter II and they told me to become a member of AMA and so I have. Pretty soon I'll be movin' up to your level
I hope.
Regards.

Way to go buddy. I just started flying in April and remember very well that awsome feeling of putting your plane up for the first time. Wait till you solo
I bet that cotton mouth comes back again. It is such an awesome feeling to put your plane down all by yourself for the first time. You won't soon forget the excitement. By the way I'm old kid too (42) The toys just keep getting better the older you get. Have fun!
