Whats up everyone, first of all here's my story... I've taken about a year off from flying, besides every once in a while flying my Foamy.... and I'M READY TO COME BACK!
I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis a couple years back (If any other of you pilots have this. let me know! always nice to find other people) It's NOT a fun thing to go through and I just had 2 flares within 3 months apart... this is what really pushed me away from my planes :/ Both of my flares lasted around 2 months. I usually weigh about 165/170 and in both flares I was down to 119 pounds! So I was in VERY bad shape (I'm 6 foot).
I just came out of my most recent flare around December. I'm on a new very strong medicine given through and IV every 2 months called remicade.. it's working GREAT! Now, when I came out of my flare I just decided to LIVE and I got back into pretty much my childhood dream and pretty much the only thing I did when I was around 12-14 years old.. motocross. I bought a 2002 CR 125 in January and once I got back on the track.. that was it haha I was back addicted to moto x. I just recently bought my new bike, a 2006 CRF 450r. here's a video of me a couple weekends ago

Okay now to the planes... I had about 8 planes I think when I kind of put them up (stupidly) I was honestly SERIOUSLY ADDICTED to the hobby! It's all I did, all I thought about, the only thing I spent money on. I'm finally ready to get back into it. I'm going to renew my AMA and RDRC (Raleigh Durham Radio Control) memberships this week and going back out to the flying field ASAP.
The planes I have now are my Hangar 9 P51 Mustang, Avistar, Brushless slo v, and my 3D Foamy. I've sold a lot sadly, including my Twist which I'm regretting! back in my "flying days" i didn't have a great job and forking over the money for new planes was pretty tough for me to do.. but I now have a great job so it's not really as much of a problem... Anyways I'm GETTING BACK INTO IT! here are a few videos of me flyin! Can't wait to get back out there

Great!
Were you on RCU before with a similar log-in? Because I seem to remember someone with a similar login. No matter. I've been away from it with lower back problems, so I know what you mean. I've flown a bit but no where near what I really want to.. but I've kept up with the sim (Real Flight G5) which has helped. I am defiintely headed out tomorrow for a few hours. I have my Skylark 70 ready to go as well as my "trainer" and maybe one or two others. I intend to wear out the sky tomorrow...
Welcome back. Don't hesitate to ask!!!!

Adam,
Welcome back to the greatest hobby in the world. Glad you are back to flying
Sorry to hear about your issues with Colitis. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you will see a link to support research into this. One of our RCU team also suffers from this as well.

Its kind of amazing how many have returned to R/C after a lay off due to work, medical conditions, family issues, etc. I do not have colitis but, I do have cancer and have returned to the greatest hobby in the world.
I still have an affinity for FG construction, molds, etc. I'm good at it, I ahve over 30 years experience and I plan to put it to good use.
Keep the faith, obay your Drs and you will do well.

Six years clean, the VA still checks me every six months, next appt is this thursday. I live with it and thats the way it is.
In the mean time I build molds and parts from FG. I love this sport. I've been in R/C since 74', th e Fg business since 70' its always interesting, never the same. So many facets. So many folks from sailplanes to scale .049 to big gassers. I love them all!
I just wish I could build molds for EVERY plane and for EVERYcowl
Hostetler C206 fuse and cowl coming out soon; based upon my own 1:1. Sky bolt (GP) out now. Gloster Gladiator cowl next week. Many more come soon.
