Sorry for being a newb, but I had two quick questions if yall could direct me on where to go. If I was trying to find out what an airplane kit I had was worth, where would I post that? Then, if I wanted to sell and make a sell post where would I put that?

Well, towards the top of the page is the "buy and sell" area. As far as what your plane is worth, that's totally up to you and what you expect to get out of it. The only real way to know is to ask a price, NOT IN THE FORUMS, but in the buy-and-sell area, and see if you get responses.

Selling used RC equipment is very tough.. it's a tough market. Try what you can and see if you can sell it. You never know.

You might put a small advertisement in your local newspaper to see if someone there wants to buy it..save you shipping costs.

You can post a free ad here on RCU, like CGretired said.

If your "Kit" is balsa sticks and sheets and plans, post an ad for twice what you gave for it. You'll probably get it, or a reasonable offer higher than what you gave.

If your "Kit" is a prebuilt ("Almost ready to fly") of any type, try for what you gave for it. You'll be lucky to get half, unless it's a rare bird.

If it was a gift or inheritance, try the electronic auction site.

And, if it's not complete, it's not valuable, just offer it to the guys at your local club as a donation, they'll probably take it.

It's simple enough to do a search in the buy and sell forum for what you have and see how much they are listed for. Watch for a while to see which ones sell. As a rule of thumb, ready to fly airframes are usually worth about 1/2 of their retail price, flyable beaters about 1/4, and electronics 1/2 to 2/3 depending on how current they are.

Not true... You MAY ask what people think a kit is worth, but you may NOT do any negotiating in the forums.

Craigslist is a good venue for that as well, I see plane stuff all the time there naturally.

Alright, thank you for all the replies.  The reason why is I do not know much about rc planes, the kit is balsa, but it is really old and I was given this by an older gentlemen.  Coud anyone tell me about it in this forum, if I link pictures, the actual plane and not the value, as I don't want to get in trouble for posting in the wrong spot again :P.

Okay, I'm going to just blurt this out, and remember it's only my opinion.

An older gentleman gave you the kit, probably thinking you would get into the hobby and enjoy building, perhaps enjoy flying, and share the hobby with friends or relatives.

You are choosing to simply sell the item. While that may be appropriate, I believe it would be more appropriate to find someone interested in the hobby and give it to them, like the older gentleman intended.

Or perhaps you could return it to the gentleman, giving him an opportunity to find someone else who would actually get some flying or building experience from the kit.

I would agree with you, but I have some beginner planes that I need to fly first, and priorities that require any money I can get, alot of stuff I own is going away. Why crash a kit from 1960-1970s when I could just crash a foam plane for some time first? *Correction, kit came from my Dad from an older man then to me, but if I could financially keep it right now I would along with my paintball guns, and bikes.

Go ahead and tell us what it is, with as much info as you have from the box label or instruction booklet.

Holy cow, I can't believe someone finally got around to asking that simple question. Tell us what it is, and some of us will be happy to let you know what we have seen them go for in the past instead of getting all up in your business about why who when what you are selling it. Geez, it's a plane kit he's trying to sell, not his grandmother.

Graupner Middle Stick I think is what it is called. All pieces of the kit look un damaged, all literature looks to be there. If someone can tell me where to find the piece count in the manual I will double check all pieces are there. Design by Phil Kraft. I am not sure on the size, but I will make sure to get it whenI get home. That is the .40.60.90 thing correct? The coolest thing is the blue print diagram it is full scale, on wax paper so I guess you could use an over head to view them easier, no rips or tears except on the blue print see in the picture has a tiny dime size tear in the text, but doesn't seem to block anything important. Though, think alot of the good information and examples is in German, and I can't read it heh.

Let me know what you all can tell me I value your expertise. Hope to gain some knowledge by digging through this site for a while. Only done some string planes I think they are called.

*I couldn't find it in the rcubook, closet I found was the Ugly stick, and no kits were sold, only ARF or completes.

Digging through Google search results for "Middle Stick" gave me:
The Graupner Middle Stick was used to introduce the .30 cubic inch rotary engine in 1970.
Another page lists the weight as 5 pounds and wing span 55 inches, so a regular .40 class glow engine should work on it.

40 size kits (currently in production) tend to cost between $50 and $130. I can't guess what your kit is worth. It is somewhat rare, possibly very rare, but that may or may not translate to a high price.

You could list it on ebay with a fairly high reserve and maybe get a bidding war.

I bought some old 70+ year old Cleveland kits at the Toledo show. Some things are not for sale, these being 3 of them!! Worth keeping, had the plans copied as well as copies of the balsa that have the parts printedon them.I can build thee planeswithout destroying the old wood which look in fabulous shape.Should be fun..................I will go through alot of #11's on these as the printed parts on the woodare darn near touching each other.
