i have found a great plan for abeginner(http://www.scribd.com/doc/31246384/T...Model-Airplane)i am planing to use balsa wood but i`m notsour if my engine would be strongenoughto move it ,i got a .20 cc engine that is just sitting there and i`d like to use it, what would that size engine be able to carry as far as a size of astraighthigh wingaircraftgo ?

Just my opinion, but I think you need to find a slightly heavier built model for even that little engine. This type model is built very, extremely light, for flying, I don't think it would hold up to the stress of flying with that engine mounted. My best suggestion is to look in the 1/2 A forums, and Sig has Herr kits for that size engine. I know there are others, but I gravitate to the larger models. Good luck!

What type of engine is that, CO2?
It is really small, if the cc you give us are correct.

For your first airplane, stick with the tried and true. Experimenting can come later after you know how to fly and know what makes for a good handling airplane. You're talking about trying to rig a rubber powered free flight model into a fuel powered RC model. Without experienced knowledge of aerodynamics it won't work.

i do know how to fly electric good and i know how to make fomies and i know how to work with wood and yes it is an os 0.2 engine that works on amixtureof oil , petrol and methanol and that it is 2 stroke onecylinder,thatsas far as i know it has flown before but not in my hands and the people at my group areencouragingme to go on petrolbasedflight so i managed to get this engine for free , and i know where to buy balsa for cheap (relatively) and i have the material to make fuel tanks (coper) and i also have themachineryfor making wooden things

If your engine is an OS .20, that's .2 cubic inches, not .2 cc. A big difference, and a .20 is way too much engine for that model. It would fly a Sig Kadet Seniorita (kit) very well, though.

os is just the brand name and it`s got .20 cc on the side embossed that`s why i sad that it was.20 cc and not 2 cc
it is a small engine also my group says so but baggers cant be choosers hehe

OS does not currently make any engine smaller than .10 cubic inches, which is almost ten times larger than .20cc. I don't know of any company except Cox that ever made a glow engine as small as .2 cc. How big is your engine from the bottom of the crankcase to the top of the cylinder?

What is the diameter of the propeller that was given to you?
Does it have a glow plug or an adjustable bolt on the top of the cylinder?
Does it have a throttle in the carburator?
Could you post a picture?
The attached picture is of a vintage 0.2 cc diesel engine.
Note the size of the parts compared to a 5 cents USA coin.

I think, without knowing more than stated here, that you have an OS 20, which is @ 3.5 cc. There are .2 cc diesels. I had one and never got it to run. I still have a couple of .5 cc diesels I need to get flying. Whatever engine you have, I'd suggest starting with an airplane designed for that size engine. There are lots of plans out there if you search for them.

scratch build a .15 (cubic inch
) ugly stick. This is a clasic design and free plans are available with just a wee search. Sticks Are the perfect first build and a fine "second" plane. The .15 size stick with your .20 will be a nice match.

sry re examined it it`s 20 cc
and so ... i cant find a plan that needs that size of engine , i found only more than 40 cc size engine , any one got a good 20cc trainer ???

Are you sure it reads cc's after the 20?
The most common trainer has a 0.40 cubic inch glow engine (it uses nitro-methane as fuel).
Engines of 40 cc are fueled by gasoline and are big and heavy.
This site has plans for a 0.20~0.25 cubic inch and step by step with many pictures; however, it is in Spanish:

my family and i are quite good builders and very able to creating things out of wood (boats ,models, kitchens, and other things.) i have found this plan on e bay but notsourif it`s good for my engine and yes it is a 20cc as it is small , thepeopleat my clubnormaluse 40 - 50 cc engines for a fewexceptionfor those who love the big things that go up to 150 cc that like areimpossibleto move around and need lots of help but anyway that`s the trouble as it is a small engine , thats why i need help to find the actual plans. but now i found these ones on ebayof a piper cub , what do you think about is if it would be good to use for my engine? That plan is for a model that is much smaller than what you need.
The structure is not designed to resist the vibrations of your 20 cc engine.
Besides, it is not a good trainer model.

A 20 cc engine isn't small: that's over 1.2 cubic inches. I continue to think it likely that this is an OS .20 (i.e. .2 cubic inches). Is there some reason you won't tell us the approximate size of the engine, from the bottom of the crankcase to the top of the cylinder? That way we would have a good notion of what you have. Saying "it is small" tells us nothing; saying "it is small and it's 20 cc" makes no sense at all.

The plans you are looking for should be for a model of similar wing area and weight.
