Are there compatible receivers and servos for the Spektrum DX7?
Do I need to purchase only Spektrum receivers and servos to work with this radio?
Thanks in advance for the help.

HobbyKing is coming out with Spektrum compatible park flyer receivers. I'm not sure what the quality/reliability is like, though:

With a DX-7 tranmitter you are stuck with a DSM or DSM2 receiver. Hobby king says they have one that will work with it, but Ihaven't seen it yet. As for Fataba and Airtrinics, forget them, they won't work. With 2.4GHz transmitter you are stuck with that brand of receivers. Until I see one of the Hobby king receivers working I would not wnat to be the first to buy one. For the servo, any of the new ones will work, but Futaba put this stupid key on the side of their servo plugs and they won't go in a JR type receiver unless you cut that tab off and trim the corners on the connectors. The wireing is the same, just the Fataba plug that is different. You can make them work by doing some trimming, but other then that they are fine. Just about any servo will work keeping that in mind. If you can, get a servo with a JR plug. Then you don't have to worry about cutting that thing up. If you look real close at a JR plug, you will see that they have two corners cut off at an angle. You need to cut that on the Futaba plug too after you ocut that tab off. If the plugs are totally open on the end of the receiver, don't worry about the corners then, anything will fit. Just cut the key off.

Thanks for all the help.
One more question which I am sure is a dumb one, but need to verify anyway:
Just because I have a 7ch transmitter does not mean I have to get a 7ch receiver, right? I can get a 5ch receiver if I am only going to use 5 channels right? The DX7 will work with a 5 or 6ch receiver correct?
Thanks,
Brad

Brad,
Yes you can use the six or five channel receivers, the parkflyer receivers are compatible as well. If you don't require extra channels why pay for them, unless sometime in the future your planning to use more channels. I have a selection of receivers for my DX7 which includes 7,6, and 5 channels.

As we're talking about what receivers you can use with Spektrum receivers I wanted to post this. Spektrum has an announcement on their site warning of counterfiet Spektrum receivers out on the market.

Horizon is only trying to protect their intrest and any company would do this. What my concern is, does this receiver from Hobby King really work. I'm not saying it won't, just that Ihaven't seen it. If it in fact works, then Horizon is in for some compitition and that is always good for the people buying any prodect. Isee no reason not to buy it if it really does work, but until Isee a few of them flying, I wouldn't buy one. I'll let someone with more money then Ihave test it out. As for the number of channels, that is determined by a couple of things, but what it boils down to is, the receiver will work with the transmitter as long as it is on the same system you are using. Number of channels makes no difference. The smallest reveiver I have is 4 channels and it works great on my 9 channel transmitter. The transmitter doesn't care how many channels the receiver has. Ihave used a 9 channel receiver with an 8 channel transmitter also. As long as they are the same system, they work. FMis FM and manufacture didn't make any difference, except for the shift, but getting into PCM or 2,4, you are stuck with the system the transmitter is on.
