Where is Tower Hobbies? I have used them for almost 30 years without a single complaint.

Remember, they're HIS ratings from HIS experience. Maybe he's never ordered from Tower.

To each his own I guess. Perhaps that's the reason that my LHS tops my list at #1. Always will.

Just my humble opinion.

pdm,

i would agree with you except for one fact, not everyone HAS a LHS nearby ....... or its like ours here 25 miles away and they never have what you need and have to order it....... (plus charge more)

GIVE YOU 3 GUESSES FROM WHERE ...... yup tower or horizon .

$40,000 in three years! Yowzer! Though you could easily do that with four or five well appointed 40% jobs.

Course, you can spend that fast with Desert Aircraft. ;-) Lovely toys there. My first motorcycle had a midsize r/c engine judging by their offerings.

Chief is one of my favorites, and they also sell Smart-Fly products and, for some reason, see to stock-out less(?)

My LHS will always beat Tower . . . if you ask them. 'Course, most of the guys I know don't ask in most cases, especially on the small stuff. We don't want to kill the laying hen.

Yeah, thought about that one later on in the evening. Guess I'm spoiled since my LHS is just down the street. There will also be items that they have to order too. I wouldn't expect them to carry everything but orders are just a couple days off from being recieved so it's really not much different for me than ordering from one of the online stores.

40 big ones !! I guess I can get away without using first rate stuff. I started back in 1972 and I think I've only spent about $15,000. I buy almost all of my stuff used or it's given to me for testing and experimenting. The last 4 stroke engines I purchased used was for 2 Saito .72 ($35 each) that were in a scale B-25 that crashed when one engine went out, no damage at all to the motors. I've got so much stuff/junk it is sometimes tough to get around all of that stuff without bumping into something.

Wow! $40K!!!
And I complain about the little bit I have to spend out of retirement.
I will agree with his number one selection though for online ordering and help, that being Horizon.
But my local hobby shop is a good one too! Not a chain, just an independent trying to make a living.

40 grand is pigeon feed. At "our" house if I buy a new bird the wifey gets something too. So far it's cost me a kitchen remodel, a swimming pool, a complete bathroom addition, 2 outdoor decks, a new truck to haul her mutts around in, and another new house. So far.

Course though this is the same woman who after seeing the remains of my P-40, after my club Pres. thumped it, said "Oh that's the one with the painted face, I really liked it. Are you going to get another one?"

Watch it! It sounds like she has something in mind already.
My wife does the same thing. I built a couple planes and she spent $1100 on a sewing machine, and that's her 3rd one!
