I got a good deal on the GP Extra 300SP and took it. Pictures are attached,
Having got it, I am not sure how good it is. Though it is very similar (a bit smaller) tahn the Reactor 46-70 I already have, I did not find it to be as sturdy as that airplane. So how many of you out there have some experience with this thing in terms of it flying qualities and build quality?

I really like the GP Extra-300SP. Flying characteristics are outstanding and it seems well built. It isn't quite as light as some more 3D-oriented planes but that's fine with me.

That's fine Chuck. I didnt realise till I opened the canopy that the bottom is entirely open (only covered with monocote). I have mostly flown fully sheeted models or atleast ones on which there is sheeting with holes to reduce weight, so this left me a bit worried.
I had researched before I bought it and most reviews are good. I will be putting a 55AX on it. In fact, I would like if it was built on the sturdier rather than the light side. Basically, I wanted to know whether the money I spent was on a good airplane, that's all. Else I would like to pass it on

I built the original kit version called a 300S and I have flown and set up that arf version for one of the fellows some years back. My opinion is its a delightful airplane and would be a mistake to pass up.
My kit version was powered with a TT .61 but a 55AX would be even better and that is exactly the choice I would make these days [8D]

I haven't assembled one for anyone yet but I have done the maiden and trim on one. Like all Extras it was a fine flying plane. As ARFs go it was about normal in design and construction. Don't forget to reinforce the LG block, something I do on all ARFs without giving it a second thought.

And you can always sheet whatever parts of the plane are open and make you nervous. You would probably have to shift things around a bit to get the CG where it's supposed to be afterwards, but that's just part of the game.
