What prop did you end up using?

The issue is not the prop. Theres a few guys at our club with Super Airs and they all land fast but have no problem slowing em down on approach.
One bloke is running his with a MDS46 with a tuned pip. It screams along on a 11x6 and it lands fine. Its not a slow lander. It has to be flwon down till the wheel touch the ground. Once on the ground leave the elevator. it will drop the tial wheel and slow quickly from there

In my opinion, 3D props are good for begniners, as they slow the plane down and add thrust for emergency maneuvers.

No Jack, they arent necessarily. 3D props do give a lower top speed and help in braking. But trainers need some amount of forward speed for flying. Granted trainers can fly very slow and the 3D props help in braking on final approach, but this can cause a stall just as easily if the inexperience pilot isint careful.

Also, since you have less air speed, you dont have options if something goes wrong. For example, if you are going at a good rate in a trainer when your engine quits, you can trade the air speed for height or vice versa and land dead stick. With a 3D prop, you lose part of that option.

I am now flying exclusively 3D airplanes with 4 and 5 pitch props. But back in my trainee days, I used 12x6 and 11x7 exclusively on my 55AX (I now use 13x4 on the same) and it helped me many times.

a 3D prop won't work on the Super Air. The wing is too thin, it needs speed to keep it flying

Increase drag by increasing AOA during final: that is your brake during landing.

Except for landings, speed and altitude are your friends.

well it flyes fast still and yet slows down so why change it !
it needs speed to keep flying so give it speed by throttl.
