Default Futaba

G`Day

Can someone please advise me on Servos, am using the Spectrum DX7 Radio and building a new plane which still has to have servos and receiver installed. Can I use Futaba digital servos with the Spectrum DX7 2.4 ghtz and the Spectrum 7 channel 2.4 receiver?

Or am I asking for trouble if Iuse servos from Futaba because I am using Spectrum radio and receiver.!!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!

I have had no issues using futaba servos snd DX7 and Spektrum rx's. A couple of my planes have JR and futaba servos mixed together. The ones that do have digitsl servos are hi-tech digi servos

servo's tend to be interchangable, use the prettiest servo's you can find. Your plane should look good inside and out

The RXs don't have any idea of the make or model of the servos being used. Futaba used to have a tab on there end that required being removed before it could be used in other brands of RXs. Been a long time sense I bought a Futaba servo so I'm not sure if they still play that game.

I have several planes with two different brands of servos in them. I think Airtronics are the only ones that don't just plug and play.

Not true, they will if you have the airtronics with the blue(z connector) plugs.

You did say "Digital" servos in your original post. I agree with all of the above, but I must add that you may... may... be using servos that are way advanced for your application.... and more costly than you may need to get the job done.

Many, if not most, of us, use basic servos, we normally suggest Ball Bearing servos vs. the bushing type. But, a basic servo, at about $10 US will do the job on most of the aircraft flown by most of the beginners in this forum.

You decide on what you want and how much you want to pay... but I have a whole pile of servos, both basic and advanced, and for the type of flying I do, and considering that this IS a a beginners forum, I would suggest that you stick to basics and use the good quality Futaba, Airtronics, Hitec, or other quality basic servos on your basic flyer.

I use basic ball bearing servos on most of my planes and have not yet had a problem with any of them.

Dick, he just said digital servos, he never mentioned the plane or type. I agree with you but I have had students buy new radios and they came with some pretty good servos, digital, so they were used. Doesn't hurt to have and use them if you already have them.

It has been many many years since Airtronics made the servos that were reversed wired from everybody else. Now all of their servos (blue plugs)have the same wiring and can be used on any of the name brand radios such as Futaba, Spektrum, Jr, and Hitec.

I know this is a beginners forum! but still would like some feedback!

Maybe you could tell me which forum I should use?

Am actually building a 1/7th P51 Top Flite kit which is where I want to use the digital servos
.
Am still having lessons and also have Trainer which I will be using for quite a while until I get more confident in flying.

The P-51 is a building project for winter while I fly the trainer!!!

Hold on a second, Dutchy.. my comment wasn't a scold, it was just a comment and not intended to be negative. So, relax and enjoy the view. If you want a recomendation, well, about 90% of my servos are Airtronics, and a good number of those are 94102Z basic servo. And the cost here in the US is about $10.00. And they work just fine.

Yeah, Gene.. I forgot.. my Spektrum DX7 came with "digital" servos. I was thinking of those rather costly digitals that are more suited to a gas powered 30%'er. Sorry for the confusion.
