Default Thinking of getting this one.

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LWAG07&P=E

I have an OS .75 AX on a Goldgerg Protege that needs some work. I thought I would move that engine over to this plane..... OR.... pick up a new OS .55 AX.

Any opinions on this?

I thought I would solicit opinions before I buy the plane.

Yeah, it is. I have the Goldberg Skylark 70 which is a sport plane. This one is more of an aerobatic design. I have two pattern planes and love to fly them, but they are 120 size planes and I can only transport them one at a time.. meaning, I can't really transport more than one plane when I take either of these out. With this one, I can have my sport plane, a trainer that I love to fly just to get back to basics, and this aerobatic plane.

Ah yes.. decisions.. decisions..

I'd get a 55 AX for it as one of our club guys over powered the
Extra 300 SP with a Super Tiger 91 and it didn't make a full lap
around the field before it disintergrated, sounded like a bomb
went off seconds after the buzz from flutter. Was hard to say exactly
what failed, as there was very little left once it finally fell down to"tera firma".
They are built very light being they are both EP & GP.

CGR,

the 55AX is enough for this Zlin. Remember it is strictly sports / pattern and not 3d, so no point putting in a big engine.

Bill Diedrich,

just one doubt: I have the GP Extra 300SP too and plant to arm it with no bigger than a 55AX. Insin't that enough for some 3D? This plane is known for its cheap horns and push rods (refer the RTF thread) and for its tendency to have aileron flutter when flown fast. I am going to replace both and seal the hinge gaps and I like to fly slow anyway

Sorry for hijacking the thread slightly CGR

I got to fly that Zlin about two weeks ago. It reminded me a lot of the Goldberg Chipmunk.

A 55 will be plenty, but of course, a 70 Surpass would be better

CGRetired,

Bad news, the 70 surpass is ond news, You need the 72FS a, or the 81FS aLooks like youneedto dig a little deeper in the pocket.

That or come over an raid one of my two engine Drawers. I liked cats when I was a kid, still do, but as a kid they kept following me home. I think engines and cats are a lot alike. They keep following me home.

You can't have any of my engines but I'll give you a couple cats. I'll even drive over your way to deliver. If my wife asks, they just ran away.

Ok.. sorry, I have enough cats... but no where enough engines!!!! [>:]

I am going to look into the four stroke. I had an older 52 Surpass that was a great engine. Someone talked me out of it a while back and I sold it to him. I should have kept it. No, not for use on this plane, but for something else I have in mind.

I'll look at the engines you suggeste, Don.

Irish.. what one do you want?

Ok, everyone had a dig at the forum moderator...

CGR, note that this is an inverted engine install and while I know that 2C would still work fine in this case, I would personally take a 4C- either 72A or 82A. Ok someone is going to say they have an inverted 2c that runs fine. Just that I wouldnt put in a 2C inverted.

Wish I could come over and raid your engine drawer Campgems

Well, Ameyam, I am running an inverted OS 1.20 on both my Venus II and the Excelleron 90 pattern planes and they start up and run just fine. The only problem I have is getting at the glow plug.. []
