Default 4* 40 Engine Choice

I am buying a 4* 40 by SIG for my second airplane. I have a Sig lt-40 trainer with an OS 40LA engines. I was wonder what a good engine is for the 4*, and I wanted to try an engine other than the OS. Was thinking about a super tiger or thunder tiger .46. I appreciate any opinions.

TT Pro 46 is a good engine. I have two and they perform magnificently.

I have a 4*40 with a Thunder Tiger Pro 46 on it and it pulls that plane great. You will like it. This was my second balsa plane also. It flies nice.

Thanks for the input. Sounds like tt.46 is the way I'll go

I have one in my trainer (TT46) and my instructor loves it.

Note that the advice was for the TT 46 "PRO". It makes a difference.

with a Pro46, it isn't too overpowered? i am going to be getting one of these as well for a second plane.

the recommended engines are up to .30-.40?

The TT pro .46 is not too much power. You sacrifice a little bit in weight, but the power is great. I built a 4* and put the Pro .46 on it and it flies fantastic.

It is definitely not overpowered. It will fly the plane quite fast but that is what the throttle is for. I like the vertical power it offers - not unlimited vertical, but enough for some great flying.

I've had a Super Tiger GS 40 on mine for years. It's a great combination.
