RE: Solved: Good first plane?
What part is where you mess up?
|
RE: Solved: Good first plane?
when im coming down. i either turn the wrong way, or i hit the elevator downwards too fast, or i run out of runway because i took too long to land.

RE: Solved: Good first plane?
Oh...

RE: Solved: Good first plane?
good price on those batteries. but it appears they are very short on fly time.

RE: Solved: Good first plane?
I have noticed that when you buy those cheaper batteries like that there are two things that are problems. First, you're going to find that some of them are going to be flat out dead when you get them. And at a buck a battery they are counting on you not bothering with trying to send them back since you will have to pay return shipping. And second, as mentioned above a lot of times those cheaper cells won't have the same run time as a name brand battery. <div>
</div><div>In all honesty, I wouldn't waste my time buying a bunch of no name cheap batteries like this. Instead buy 5 or 6 of the name brand and you will be fine. I find that with 5 or 6 batteries and charger I can fly my Ember, MCX Heli, and Vapor all night long without much of stop between flying. Especially if you have the newer charger from E-Flite that can charge 4 batteries at a time. I simply have 4 chargers that gives me the same results in that I can keep flying just about as long as I want. </div><div> </div><div>We have an indoor fly at our club once a month. While it sounds great to have a ton of batteries to fly non-stop, you'll find in reality that isn't the case. Each battery is going to give you about 10 minutes of flight time. After 2 or 3 flights back to back you will find that you are ready for a break and you'll want to stop flying. Also, it's not good on the motor and electronics of the plane to run them non-stop as they will be more likely to overheat and burn out. So you really don't need a whole bag full of batteries to have an enjoyable flying session.</div><div> </div><div>Hope this helps</div><div> </div><div>Ken</div> |
RE: Solved: Good first plane?
Im probably just going to get a second. I will need a break in between flights to cool my body off anyways...
But how does the battery stay in the slot on the plane. Wouldnt it just fall out?<br type="_moz" /> |
RE: Solved: Good first plane?
ORIGINAL: electricrc68 i turn the wrong way Just remember, "Low wing gets the stick!" |
RE: Solved: Good first plane?
scooterinvegas- i will remember that :D<div>
</div><div>link119- i think the champ should also have a velcro strip that the battery would attach to. i know that my ember has one of those.</div> |

ORIGINAL: RCKen I have noticed that when you buy those cheaper batteries like that there are two things that are problems. And second, as mentioned above a lot of times those cheaper cells won't have the same run time as a name brand battery. Anyway to make a long story longer, I run my timer on my radio so that it runs at anything above the first click on the throttle. I have it set to count-down from 8 minutes. The e-flight batteries have never made it the full 8 minutes, the esc usually starts to cut the power at around the 4 min 30 sec mark and they take 950+ mah to bring them back up. My Chinese batteries on the other had run the full 8 minutes of power-on and I have yet to put more than 850 mah back into them. I have many MANY LiPo powered things - helicopter's and airplanes running everything from the 150 mah stick of gum to a couple of giant scale airplanes carrying enough battery to power a house for an entire day. I have to date ordered in excess of $2000 worth of batteries from China and other than Singapore Post loosing a box with two batteries I have yet to have a single one with a problem. One person gets one bad battery and they post it on 11 different forums under a dozen different threads per forum and all of the sudden every battery coming from a China based seller is bad. These international internet based retailers are selling millions of batteries all over the world and since the internet is all over the world when a buyer in South Africa gets a bad battery he post's it for everyone to see. Horizon and E-flight are mainly a US seller as are many of the other so called name brands and all together they sell fewer batteries than just one of the international sellers so it appears that they have fewer problems. I'm in no way associated with any one of these companies, I just want to give my $.02 worth when it comes to batteries. |
RE: Solved: Good first plane?
The last paragraph makes a lot of sense...

RE: Solved: Good first plane?
I think the Ember is the best way to go...... It wins over the champ Cuz it is a little slower.
The GWS slow stick is a great plane... it's just like a Giant Ember. As a 2nd plane Im hearing / seeing great things about the big and small T-28 Trojans from Parkzone. If your computer savy there are several free flight sims! You might have to buy a cord or cheap controller to get it going.... Club swap meets usually have cheap old transmitters for sale for this job. Good Luck.... We golf cart fly with slow sticks! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyTTT69iUpI |
RE: Solved: Good first plane?
I also like how the ember has landing gear thats on a carbon fuselage because i read that the champs landing gear digs into the foam fuselage...<div>I need to make a list of pros and cons when i get the time...</div>

RE: Solved: Good first plane?
i haven't had an issue with the champs landing gear. i've been praticing landing alot and it's been great.
i decided to show off @ the mother in laws house, bad idea. power lines, oak trees, the champ hit hard, but survived. it keeps suprising me how tough it is! i might buy another micro, a parkzonet28 trojan and the little mcx blade heli, i have 8 of these batts now so thats all the excuse i need to buy more planes/heli's. lol |
