Agm 30 good or bad?
Or bite the bullet and go buy a dle for a extra 140???
|
Here's a thread on it. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/gas-...as-engine.html
|
Spend the extra couple bucks and get the DLE. ;)
I've got two (likely another one this year too) and they run like swiss watches. great customer support as well. I was THIS close (my fingers are really really close together... :) ) to pulling the trigger on the AGM, decided against it and within a week people (with accurate measuring equipment) started complaining about the tolerances being out, rough running engines (or not wanting to start at all) etc. |
I end up buying a Dle 30rc

Re the throttle, if your using LiFe or LiPo 2 cell backs for the servos, just ensure it's a suitable high voltage servo also. It does not need to be strong, that said, I'm using these, as a guy my dad flew with up where he lived used these in his 50cc Sbach on everything (control surfaces also), and flew the snot out of the thing for ages without issue (still none to date from what I've been told).
I've put the ones I have on my choke and throttle as at $10 for a HV servo (7volt rating) I'm not too concerned - I also will have remote engine ignition kill setup on my transmitter should something ever go haywire (not that I'm concerned it will). http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store...0kg_16sec.html Still, I better go re-check my elevator install on my Sbach. I have it with the glue drying at the moment, as the last time I did it the cursed epoxy I had went off WAY too soon, and I had to VERY carefully cut it out this morning so I could get all the measurements just so as I am completely anal on ensuring it's as perfect as I can get it (1mm out is 1mm too many for me!) This is my baby: |

Nice Sbach... I've used those exact servo's on several 30 and 50CC airplanes and love them so far!
got em in these three airplanes currently (the sukhoi is a stock photo, the other two are mine ;) ) all have DLE gassers. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1952859 CMP 30 CC Marathon http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1952860 GoldWing 30 CC Sukhoi 26M http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1952861 TWM 50CC Commander |

........... all have DLE gassers. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/atta...mentid=1952860 GoldWing 30 CC Sukhoi 26M On the other hand, I am a serious fan of the scheme on your Sukhoi, for some reason I love well structured branding on aerobatic planes ..... as while it may not even represent a real world plane (I don't know if that does or not) - it just looks more scale to me! (I also love 'radial' airframe shapes). Glad to hear your feedback on those servos, as it adds proof to my theory that you don't always have to go high end and horribly expensive to get a really good "quality" item as a lot of people would have you believe. As I have always know, there is a huge difference between "price" and "cost", and "quality" is often more related to the cost of something as this goes beyond just the price you pay for something. |
Thanx Kiwibob yes I agree i try to get it perfect when it comes to setting up the elevator stab i will fight till it's right on the mark my mate who does a lot of building cant let let it go unless he's right on the money. While we are on the subject about elevator stab mine has a tube running threw then you bolt each side of the elevators on i hope it lines up with the wings right haven't put a tape on them yet but if they don't i cant see what you can do to fix as they are pre drilled and sunk!

One thing I do know is that it is the same exact one that Nitroplanes sell (though mine came as a b/day gift from an importer that lived near my dad). That said, it looks quite well made, light yet strong, everything is well lined up and is going together really well. As for motor, when the plane was sent down to where I live as a belated b/day gift, my dad also sent me a CRRC 26R (3.15hp) motor with it also (pretty sweet b/day gifts last year I must say), which will more than suit me as all I will need as 3D is not my thing (I have heli's that hover just fine should that need take me), and I'm really looking to set it up for more 'scale' aerobatics and sport flying only which is why I haven't seen a need to have gone and got a DLE30 or 35. As touched on previously, this is the same exact airframe as mine, and his 26cc is only rated at 2.6hp - which is about a 17.5% drop in power over what the motor I have puts out, so I think I'll be happy with what I'll get from her: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP8LZPGBLP0 |
G' the pilot is right out of wack for the plane lmao

Not meant to loose planes when using a buddy box must of been a real big mistake, I had a mate loose a plane he decided to listen to another bloke while the guy teaching him new what he was capable of and not capable of doing while flying always pays to listen to the teacher and not other people while you are in the air!
|
Not too sure if it was touchy button or what (DX8's have a button vs a switch), but control was lost, and so was the plane shortly there after - Planes crash, it's part of the hobby (no matter how hard we try for it not too be), you just have to pick yourself and all the tiny little bits off the paddock, and move on.
First major loss/issue I've ever had, but it may well not be the last. |
I've got three DLE 30's. All great engines. Just ran my first AGM 30 this past weekend for one tank. I really can't find a single difference in the way they run. The AGM seems a hair smoother in the midrange. Of course I can't attest to its longevity, but from what I've seen so far it looks to be a good engine.
