Basically, you need to add a 1/4" plywood plate (about 1/2" wider front to back than the gear) and brace it with 1/8" ply on each side. Tri stock in the corners is a good idea too.

Place them so the wheels line up aprox with the LE of the wing

dvs i know what you are talking about cause i have the same problem. i think what im gonna do is mount a servo about 6 -10 inches from the rear of the plane to control the tail wheel and hook it up with an extension and Y harness ...right now that seems like the easiest solution. That means i'll have an extra servo on the plane but that shouldn't cause any problems considering i have a .68 engine in it now.All i have to do now is buy a Y harness, servo and extension and hook it all up.

You use the rudder servo, just like the nosegear did, but you run the pushrod to the opposite side of the fuselage from the rudder pushrod, I used a nylon tube to run the rod in. Here is the picture.

bingo ..did you have to bend the rod for the tail wheel?...it looks like it's at a wierd angle coming out of the fuselage

RE: hangar 9 alpha

Once you push it through, just put a little offset in it (like for the throttle) to compensate for the angle it comes out of the fuselage from, to the more direct angle for the z-bend to push the wheel (steering) in.
