I will walk you throug my build!

First off my settup is
Radio: Futaba 6EXA (new!)
Engine: Supertigre GS 45

Good luck with it. The manual leaves a lot to be desired. Do a search on this forum, there have been many questions asked and answered on this plane. I have one, but have not flown it yet. Maybe this coming spring?

Oh, in case you have not cut a cow before (actually a cowl, the manual has a section titled "Mounting the Cow" or something like that), I suggest you download the manual for the Great Planes Spacewalker. Only because they give much better directions on how to determine where to make your cuts.

BTW, this is an ARF. It is a nice looking plane. But the manual sucks!

I think I love that plane! Please do post your build. I've read it is a fun flying plane but that the kit was best left to those who can fill in the gaps. I'm on my first kit and it has good plans but I still don't know why I'm doing things so taking on that Walker was out of the question. :D With all the time that goes into building a kit..I don't see how anyone dares to fly 'em.

Hi from Japan to a fellow Orange County native! What field are you flying out of? I was with Corona RC for a while before returning to my job here in Japan.

As soon as I got here I bought the Seagull Spacewalker II and it is one BEAUTIFUL ARF and one TOUGH BIRD. I've crashed it 8 times (my faulty not its) and each time it was back for more in a couple of days. Last time I ripped out the firewall so it's going to take a bit of rebuilding but the wing, fuse, and tail are fine.

One thing though, this is a heavy model and it wants to fly fast compared with a trainer -- and I've only got a Magnum 40 on it.

Yall are right about the toughness of this Plane. I've wrecked mine a few times, and it always bounced back. The main Airframe Components seem to handle the abuse, AND it's a great acrobat. I thought that mine being underpowered with an Enya 40SS was better than having the power. This thing would do anything in the book at slow speeds. It brought something alot different to the field than all those CAPs, EDGEs, and other planes like that. Seagull puts out some pretty good birds in my opinion.

What is Good way to cut the cowl if I dont have a dremel rotary Tool?

Whoops... never got around to putting the wheel pants on. I cut cowl by using a drill to make an initial hole, then using a round jewelers file to cut the rough shape, then sanding to final shape with 220 grit sandpaper and a dowel rod. Slow, but it works.

For the wheel pant assembly, I recommend you read MinnFlyer's review. Link posted above. But I am with Andy on how I did mine. Left them off!

I finshed the Wheel pants.

If you guys still have the pieces I would put it together.
It was easy and it adds a great look to the plane.

I flew my Spacewalker II once with the wheel pants and then took them off to fit larger wheels (about 3 1/4"). As you can see I also left off the cowl -- both for looks and for easier access to the engine. The cowl is super well-made but I just didn't like the look of it with holes cut out for the cylinder head, muffler, and needle valve.

Here's what I did with my wheels, those are Robart scale wheels with the smooth hubcap out, and trim tape for color.

I used a pitts muffler because the origina meffler wouldn't fit.


my engine is a Supertigre GS-45. The pitts makes it look good.

Had my space walker II for a month now. Tried to fly it last week. I have a Thunder Tiger Pro .46 in mine. Mine on rollout to take off veered to the left. I am giving it full right rudder to steer. It was gonna hit the fence and I pulled on the elevator and it took off.
However, I still had lots of right rudder and the damn thing cartwheeled on the runway. Major damage was when the wing came off,
it broke the wing saddle. I have since put it back on and used 30 minute epoxy with fiberglas cloth. I don't really like the tail wheel setup all that much. Seems harder to get the plane to turn when using rudder (on the ground). I've also heard that the space walker likes just a bit of speed when you land. So, definetly not like any type of trainer.

Sorry to hear about your incident..... them Seagull SWII's are a handfull on the ground. I had an AX .46 on mine and it just wasn't quite enough power to yank it off teh ground... you had to let it roll up to speed. Very twitchy, probablly the most twitchy taildragger I've ever flown.

Yes, you might want to add a few degrees of right thrust to the engine. Mine was tough to manage on take off till i did that
