spinners and APC props
1 Attachment(s)
dunno what forum to post this in, so it goes here :D
I have been using a propnut like the one below ever since I started using APC props because I cant find a spinner that works with APC props without having to dremel it out, which I wont do for saftey reasons. So, who sells 2" or 2.5" spinners (plastic for weight reasons) for APC props? |
RE: spinners and APC props
SIG spinners www.sigmfg.com are described as "designed to fit APC props."
The Hobbytown USA near me stocks a few of these. There are 3 "real hobby shops" close to me also, and they do not stock the SIG spinners. |
RE: spinners and APC props
within an hour, I have 2 hobbytowns, and about 5 hobby shops, guess its time to start calling them all for that spinner type.
thanks for the info |
RE: spinners and APC props
And just for future reference, there's nothing wrong with "Dremeling out" a Spinner.
They are designed to fit the smallest prop feasible for that spinner size, so most of us need to open them up a bit. |
RE: spinners and APC props
i use the spinner nut on all my planes...a dubro spinner almost put my brother's eye out...it blinded him for three days...good thing it wasn't a direct eye hit...
john P.S. he's fine now nut it ended his flying career...i got all stuff,so it worked out good for me...:D |

RE: spinners and APC props
the spinner nut isnt a problem, but if I replace it with a plastic spinner, the weight differance would be almost what I need to get more tail weight on my magic, instead of adding more lead weight.

RE: spinners and APC props
I have been using Higbey Nuts on my magics, I think they are lighter than the dubros. And I also dremel out plastic and aluminum spinners, then balance them on a top flight magnetic balancer. A balanced spinner is almost as important as a balanced prop.

RE: spinners and APC props
There is a very good thread in the Tips and Techniques forum on balancing spinners.
