Flapperon tips/advice and pics!!

Hey Fellas,

Before I get started I just have to say "hook'em horns" the wife got me tickets to the Rose Bowl this past weekend and what a game... gotta give props to Michigan they played a hell of a game but Texas managed to pull it out. Anyhoo... The wife also got me a world models t-34 for christmas and I had read some threads about folks using flapperons on this particular bird for whatever reason. I thought it sounded like a cool idea since my next bird will have flaps and I had an extra servo laying around so I went for it. I haven't flown it yet, that lovely california rain we've been having but I need some advice on how to and when to use the flapperons. I have a computer radio that has flapperon mixing so, to my question, do I use them just like I normally would use flaps? and how should they be set? I had one of these planes years ago and it flew and landed great without them, I just thought I'd mix it up some and try it out so if any of you fellas have experience with flaps/flapperons advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Oh yeah, I made my own graphics for it, let me know what you think, turned out pretty good I think.

Thanks
Casey

Right Aileron on Channel 1 and Left Aileron on channel 6. Set up the Flaperon mix on your TX and then test the surface movement.

Casey.. Very nice work on your T-34 Looks Great!!
flaps/flapperons.... I tried them on my 4*60.. Not that I needed
it.. I'm not sure what I set them up for.. I think it was 30 and
50% then I was going to adjust as needed(3 position switch)...
I did not add the mix Elev/ail./flaps until I tried the flaps...(up way
high) I forgot what I set it too and have since taken it out but it
was just enough to keep the plane level when I activated the flap
on the low setting.. I never really needed it for landing, and for
what I was hoping it help me do, it did not..(help on flat spins)
Anyway that's what I did.... Again Great Job on your T-34!!

Cool thanks Raideron, I haven't received my crystal for the RX yet so I haven't got to play with it yet.. hopefully tower will have it to me by today. So they should deflect 50% or half of what the aileron throw is? I think that's right isn't it? then when they're activated they'll be "down" but will still function as ailerons?

Yes they still function as alierons. You can go one step further and set them up as air brakes too. Then you'll have flaps, ailerons, and air brakes.

Well I only tried the "full" flaps once, which was slightly over 50%,
but mostly I only used the first position(lowest,"On" setting) on my
three position flap switch (off-low-Hi) its not labeled that way just
trying to show what I mean... But even at the 50% it should be no
problem, Just test it 3 mistakes hi:-) and be realdy for the plane to
climb... When I did mix in the elev. I just tried to remember how
much "push" I had to give to stop the climb.. And in a hit and miss
fashion I adjusted the % on the elev.. Maybe someone else will
chime in with percentages.. That's just the way I set mine...

If this is a new plane... Trim the plane out before adding flaperons
otherwise it may not only climb but bank also.... along with any
other thing an un-trimmed plane will do...
