OK, lets make a couple of assumptions here. First lets assume the plane is set up so that it will at least travel in a straight line on the ground as you power up (definately NOT a given with some beginners trainers I've seen!). Second, lets assume that when we say landing, we are talking about something that is at least semi controlled and that the plane can flown again after it occurs!

If the above assumptions are stuck to, then I would have to agree that a CONTROLLED, SUCESSFULL landing is much more difficult for the average beginner. With that said, I can say that in many years of instructing, and more students than I can remember, there was only one that I can remember who started aceing his landings before his takeoffs....

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
 

Take offs are much easier . However, at some point, if you make it that far, landing is necessary. If you have'nt flown yet, be sure to seek the help of an experienced RC Pilot. The nature of your question leads me to believe that you have not flown yet. If this is the case and you live near a model airport, go there and make some new friends. Most seasoned pilots love helping people get into the disease (I mean hobby).

lol Dennis that is my instructors name lol yes i have had an instructor the hole time but was just asking because i had just landed my plane for the first time when i posted this but now i have almost soloed i took it off (witch is harder because i have a tail dragger that is wobbly) i flew it for a long time then came in to land and made a few passes and on the last pass i came in i was just a little off because of the cross wind and i went to make another pass and the cross wind flips it over it was to close to the ground to get out of it and it hit nose first. but it is not bad at all i had it rdy to go that night. almost their:)

I think landings can be harder than takeoffs because you're moving away from the ground on takeoff. Landing in winds can be nerve wracking. In my first landing with wind (4th flight), I came in a little hard and bounced on the touchdown. It wasn't a pretty landing, but nothing was broken. My third landing was a dead-stick in calmer winds, with the plane absolutely NOT TRIMMED. If the runway wouldn't have had traffic (2 horses) on it, I would've made the runway. But hey, I'm learning. No one's teaching me, so I've been bagging many hours on simulators. To be safe, I bagged at least a dozen hours before attempting to solo, which was also my first fight, which also had a beautiful landing. That is, until the pole jumped out in front of me and clipped the wing! :P

TAKEOFF OR LANDING?
 

Take offs are much easier, just try both a few times in the full sized planes, and there will be no question in your mind!

Also, I have landed upside down a couple of times to prove it could be done with little or no damage.
I have yet to successfully takeoff in the inverted position!
MMMM......... maybe if I hand launched..........

in our club there is a guy that could land within a month but took a year and 3 destroyed airplanes to learn to take off his whole problem was he was easy on the sticks in the air , but on takeoff when the plane first rotated he would fight it a wing tip would touch etc....

I have a Saito 72 on a Super Squirlly Stearman and found full up elevator and throttle gets me around that problem, but without a headwind to land into..............YeeeeHaaaaa !!! Its on.....
