What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
What do you think are simpler takeoff's or landing's? I just flew for the fifth time today and i landed it nothing broken not even the prop so i was wondering what you think is ez'er.

Conratulations
You must be a quick study! Most of the students I've had experience with make far more takeoffs than landings early in the learning curve. There's just something about seeing the plane and the ground in the same picture that is frightening to some of them. The plane is low, slow and there's no room for error so the pressure is on. Practice, practice, practice those landings and you're on your way_bob

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
I think all my interest in planes and all my flight simulator time and all my RC Sim time help. But i alway want to learn more about RC stuff when i am on the Internet i will look at every RC site i can find i, even useless sites just because it has to do with RC thats just how i am.

Congatulations Hummve,
me thinks landing is harder when the wind is a factor, other wise bout the same. Have a goodun John. |
Re: What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
Depending on the plane, landings are harder.
Taking off requires maintaining lift using the wings or propeller. Landings requires a little more hand-eye coordination as well as timing. Landing...
Landing is much harder than taking off. I tell my students it is only aerobatic maneuvers where inches matter. Congrats on your landing.

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
I say landings are harder, but another guy at the field that is around my same ability and started at around the same time, swears landing is easier.
???????????????????????? |
What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
Well i haven't taken off yet but i will try sounds like it won't be that bad.

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
Oh and my plane is a tail wheel type landing gear but i taxi it all the time so i am purity good at it. Oh and iv got a ? after what flight was the first time you landed it by your self.

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
I'd say with my Gee Bee landing is easier, well prettier anyway. I just can't keep it straight on the ground.
For the most part, landing will be more problematic. There are more chances to make a mistake on landing and cause damage. |
What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
If you subscribe to the theory that staying in the centre of the air keeps you out of trouble...:) :) .then landing is harder because you are leaving the centre of the air while when taking off you are moving towards the centre of the air.

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
For the most part I'd have to agree with everyone else here and say landing. But, there are some exceptions. My Piper Cub, for one, can be a handfull to takeoff but landings are a breeze.
 |
What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
Undoubtedly, Landings are MUCH more difficult than take offs.
When you take off, you are sitting on this little patch of ground and have that whole big sky to go into. When you land, you are somewhere in that whole big sky, and have to put your plane on that little piece of ground! |
What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
Well guess i just have to take it off next time i fly and see?

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
take offs...

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
well thats one take off and lots of landings i will have to see where my vote goes.

landing
Any fool can take a trainer up. It's landing that seperates the pilots from the "pudknockers". I know, I've done it.
I'm training my 7 year old now and we're working on landing. He's just like most when learning to land. He wants to land 75' away from the center of the runway. He'll take off when he can land. |
Am I confused?
Originally posted by Hummve well thats one take off and lots of landings i will have to see where my vote goes. The original question was: "Which are simpler - Landings or Take offs..." I answered the question directly - "take offs" as in Take offs are more simple. Actually - 5 or 6 people chose to answer the question in a round about way (Landing is more difficult.... ) leaving the reader to use deductive reasoning to find the answer. (i.e. If landing is the more difficult task out of the two - then 'take offs' must be the more simple one...) ;) Ted |
What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
TRP is correct. I said "Landings are much more difficult". I should have said, "Take offs are much easier!"

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
For me landings have been much easier than taking off. Part of the problem with takeoffs was the lousy ground handling of the planes I was using. Hit a rock or bump and the plane goes off course. At full throttle this usually resulted in a cartwheel or run into the tall grass. The ground handling on my larger planes is much better, they track better and take off much easier than the smaller planes.

What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
I fly mostly funflys. Grossly overpowered.
Here is my take off method. Line up on runway. go to 3/4-full throttle wait about 3 seconds and pull up elevator. Take off takes less than 10ft. |
What are simpler takeoff's or landing's?
I'd say neither. I've flown trainers that are more squirrelly than bald tires on ice, (granted most aren't). One thing all take-offs have in common is proper use of the rudder, which for a new person can be difficult, and most trainers aren't set-up with the rudder & nose wheel in incorrect alignment, adding to the complexity. Add possibly being out of trim and it turns in to something you may not want to dive in to without first making sure your rudder skills are decent (at least correct inputs coming & going) in the air.
Landings are sometimes a no-brainer in a trainer. When set-up right, and given the right wind conditions, they almost land themsleves. On the other hand, if you're in a gusty cross wind situation, doing a forced abbreviated approach, things can be just as difficult as a take-off with a bad handling taildragger on pavement (and more likely to result in damage). Wish you luck! |
Takeoffs vs. Landings
Takeoffs are harder. You do not always get them into the air. However, landings always are. They happen, automatically. I have never seen one hang up there. They always come down.
So, in answer to the question of which are harder, the answer is always takeoffs. Just a little fun! |
Takeoffs...
I am into higher performance birds now and the takeoffs are much easier than the landings. Just throttle up and steer straight down the runway. In about 5 seconds the planes take off by themselves. LAnding takes a lot longer and can change by the second if its really windy. You have to make sure that you make the runway with just the right amount of forward speed to maintain control when the wheels touch. Too slow and the plane will nose over. Too fast and the plane might not stop before it reaches the end of the runway.

Landing ? Take Off ?
If y'all want to look at it another way - - - - -
Take-offs are optional ! Landings are Mandatory ! :D |
