Some people do buy a used radio for a buddy box,lots of clubs have buddy boxes and instructors but as MinnFlyer stated,if you buy a radio or radio/buddy box and very few people at the field have that brand ,may find yourself waiting for those few to show at the field while other people are flying,that has happened at two of the clubs I fly at. My advice,better to be safe thah sorry, check at the field before spending your pay check,but again I do have a bridge trying to sell?

the best starter plane is a SIG Kadet Senior. This plane flys best when you stay home and let it all alone by itself to do the flying. Power it with a 40 for starters, and as you progress put bigger engines on it. It will handle a 90 4 stroke with no problems..but flys well with a 2 stroke 40 like a os FP40. Equip it with a 4 ch radio. Takes some time to build this kit..but it will fly like no other, and it is big enough to see for the beguinner. Big flys best, small flits around and is fast and requires fast reaction times. The SIG Senior will take off and fly around by itself just fine. BUT !!!! always have an instructor help out on 1st flights. Hope that helps

Something I have learned, not only about RC, but generally about all "optional equipment," is that if you buy a respected product, you will only regret the purchase once. If you buy a lesser known product (read "cheap"), you will regret it every time you use it, and especially when you try to sell it. Products known to be top quality, as seen in all of these postings, sell quickly, and often for almost as much as the original price!

I don't know which of the local clubs emailed you, but check out our club website(www.wcrcaf.com). A bunch of good guys, who'll be happy to answer any questions... come on out to the field some weekend, or come to the club meeting on Tuesday.... we usually go to Horton's for coffee and doughnuts after!
