It doesn't matter if it comes with one --- throw it away. A gasket will compess under useage and your header bolts will loosen. Use a thin film of red RTV silicone as a sealing surface. Since the OS mating surfaces are very good, you can also just bolt the muffler straight to the exhaust port without a sealer.

If you check the part list in the manual, you will not see a gasket.

BTW - be careful with RTV, some of them can be corrosive to aluminum. Could eat away at your muffler and/or engine. The red RTV we have here at work is OK but that doesn't mean ALL red RTV is OK. I have seen full scale a/c parts that were eaten up by RTV in the past.

RE: os 61 muffler question

It stands for: Room Temperature Vulcanizing (elastomer sealant)

elastomer = Any of various polymers having the elastic properties of natural rubber.

Vulcanizing = To improve the strength, resiliency, and freedom from stickiness and odor of (rubber, for example) by combining with sulfur or other additives in the presence of heat and pressure.

In other words, the stuff sets up (cures) into a rubber like material at room temp.

A good site is: www.dictionary.com Just found it myself.

RE: os 61 muffler question

I have an os61 and there is no gasket or RTV. Just bolt it on and go fly. The bolts won't loosen either.
