RE: Beginners asking the same question...

I was at the flying field the other day this guy stated that he's an fullscale pilot and these planes will be no differant.
I had to laugh out loud when I read this. I worked behind the counter of my LHS for many years and we are a 15 minute ride from a Navy Test pilot school. When those guys would wonder in, it was always a laugh. " If I can fly an F-18 Hornet, I think I can certainly handle one of these toys" is what I would get as they looked over their RayBans at me like I was an idiot. Heaven forbid, they would buy a "trainer", they always wanted the warbird. The very next day they would bring the airplane back to the store in a bushel basket or trash bag with their ego deflated and they got to listen to my "I told you so" greating.:)

RE: Beginners asking the same question...

I spent a good part of a summer teaching myself both to fly control line and how to repair a crashed airplane. Now I fly with the handle held upside down compared to everyone else. Should I decide to fly RC I will get an instructor.

A friend who lived in San Antonio and flew CL told me his sister knew a number of pilot trainees. They would scoff at his activities and say that they could fly CL because of their pilot training. He would bet them $50 they couldn't. He collected on a number of bets.:D

1) You might not need an instructor if your willing to PAY the consequences

2) You might not need an instructor if you build a SPAD

3) You might not need an instructor if you buy a 30$ piece of crap from toys r us, because then your wasting your time and the instructors
Amen my brother... especially number 3
