in need of a tip building tower trainer arf
my elevator is hitting the rudder in the up position before i can get the half inch
of throw. I need a little more than one eigth inch so is it ok to trim a small even amount off the bottom of the rudder to get the extra clearence needed for the up elevator full throw? Any tips will be appreiciated. air hawk |

my tip is to use a saw, dremel tool, knife, sanding block but not a blow torch ,that will shrink the covering. Remove what ever is needed,it won't hurt a thing.

Or, settle for 3/8 inch elevator throw and don't mess up your covering. :)

Cut the rudder, you won't be using it much anyway. You WILL be using the elevator.

I just want to thank all of you for your tips on my problem I was having and will
solve the problem by trimming a little off the bottom of the rudder with a razor saw. Its been a while and I did do well and really like the 6xas futaba radio system I decided to start with and scense the last time I was on the forum I have managed to get a sig lt-40 arf off the ground with my instructor on the trainer box. I was doing pretty good with it and had a gallon of fuel gone and was all ready to solo and still on the buddy box I was taking off nicely but thought I was not going to clear the trees and turned to the left kind of sharply and really took my instructor by surprise and with not enough air speed up I really did stick it nicely just like an arrow in the ground with MUCH damage so we will try again to get soloed.
