my elevator is hitting the rudder in the up position before i can get the half inch
of throw. I need a little more than one
eigth inch so is it ok to trim a small even
amount off the bottom of the rudder to
get the extra clearence needed for the
up elevator full throw? Any tips will be
appreiciated.

my tip is to use a saw, dremel tool, knife, sanding block but not a blow torch ,that will shrink the covering. Remove what ever is needed,it won't hurt a thing.

Or, settle for 3/8 inch elevator throw and don't mess up your covering.

Cut the rudder, you won't be using it much anyway. You WILL be using the elevator.

I just want to thank all of you for your tips on my problem I was having and will
solve the problem by trimming a little off
the bottom of the rudder with a razor
saw. Its been a while and I did do well
and really like the 6xas futaba radio system I decided to start with and scense the last time I was on the forum
I have managed to get a sig lt-40 arf off the ground with my instructor on the trainer box. I was doing pretty good with
it and had a gallon of fuel gone and was all ready to solo and still on the buddy box I was taking off nicely but thought I was not going to clear the trees and turned to the left kind of sharply and really took my instructor by surprise and
with not enough air speed up I really did
stick it nicely just like an arrow in the
ground with MUCH damage so we will try again to get soloed.
THANKS air hawk
