If your up for a kit (meaning you will have to spend at least a week of carefull and planned building), go for it. Other wise, i would recommend something Almost ready to fly meaning that all the major parts come pre built. Make sure you have an instructor and a club to go with that plane that you like. I had it, and believe me it is no fun flying that plane without proper instruction.

building a kit now days is more costly than arf's it seems hard to beat 5.00 a day china labor. although building a plane you fly has a certain amount of satisfaction in its self and you can select your own components for future projects

You were just informed that that is a good plane and the reviews say so. You can go ahead and fly that plane if you have an instructor to teach you how to fly. If you dont, i would recommend something like a GWS Slow Stick, or BEtter yet, one of the planes available at www.horizonhobby.com with the Anti-Crash feature. It sounds nice, whatever you choose go for it. And dont wait any longer because youll end up like me. Just asking whats a good plane and what is not, going round and round in a circle.

AMA has an "intro pilot program" that not all clubs subscribe to. It is not a required thing but could be helpful. You can get more info in the program from the AMA site
www.modelaircraft.org but don't let them not having this particular program stop you. They will still have instructors available. |
