RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
Yea, that was the deal when we bought the house. She gets the top two floors to do with as she pleases, but the downstairs is ALL MINE!
(Although, I did give her one room for storage - I didn't know what to use that room for anyway) |

Here is my shop area, as you can tell I have a lot of distractions while working on my planes but they do make good working surfaces to build on. The music from the juke box is great to listen too when you are building and I have something to do while waiting for epoxy to dry

ORIGINAL: MinnFlyer Ok, sometime this weekend I'll post a video tour of "Man Land" :D Can't wait! |
RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
Acelemist - You're a brave man... I have a 2 car garage, and my wife still managed to accordian the pressure washer between the foundation wall and bumper of our suburban. Any plane stuff goes in the basement away from her and lack of driving skills. She once pushed against the wall with the bumper. I think she thinks it's a damn loading dock or something. If I didn't have to pay all the bills, I'd stick a sharpened 2X4 at radiator height sticking out from the studded wall. She'd never pull in there like that again! I guess I'll settle for the Standard Tennis Ball against the windshield technique.

Fortunately, I have a two-stall garage for the wife, and a single-stall for me. In the winter the car goes in, but in the summer, my car stays in the driveway and the garage becomes the "Ready Room"

RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
I did the tennis ball equivalent for my wife, except, I put some nuts and washers on a string to signal when to stop. In front of my wife's car is my lawn mover....
Yesterday, my boys played in the garage and pulled the nuts and bolts off the string. Not to get in trouble, they tied them back onto the string, however, too far up. My lawn mover doesn't look too pretty this morning [&o] -tychoc |

RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
What next? a Batmobile?
|
RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
LOL, actually, I keep the lights out in my office so I don't get distorted colors on my monitor when I'm working on images. So everyone here refers to my office as "The Bat Cave"
I like to say, "I do my best work in the dark" :D |
RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
My boss used to keep the overhead flourescents off in his office because they were hard on his eyes. The lighting he used looked like "mood lights". I kept threatening to put a Lava Lamp on his desk. He's moved on now.

You don't want to look at his shop. You'll be ruined for life. you won't want to go back into your shop ever again!!! It's kind of like the Medusa, you know one look at you turn to stone!!! So if Minn posts pictures of his shop make sure you look away from the screen!!!! :D:D Ken |

I vow to relentlessly pursue my own "Man Land." Thanks Minn for providing a goal in my RC career!

RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
Minn's got a great shop. But you know the laws of nature. There are checks and balances for everything. For one good thing there is a bad thing. The bad thing would be that he lives in Minnesota!!!!! ;) You've got to have a shop like that when you live someplace that the summers only last 45 minutes!!!!!!! :D:D:D
Just kidding Mike. I had to say something so I didn't feel as jealous about your shop as I do!!!!! :D:D:D BTW, Which Ultimate is that in your "Ready Room"???? Ken |

RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
ORIGINAL: RCKen The bad thing would be that he lives in Minnesota!!!!! ORIGINAL: elenasgrumpy Kind of reminds me what Gallager had to say about the Settlers in Ok. Do you think anyone actually set out for Tulsa, Ok?? Noooooooo!!! That's just what they were willing to settle for, that's why they called them "Settlers". By the time they got to Ok, they had had enough & said, "ahh we'll just settle for this right here" because they just didn't want to go on any further.:) What can I say? As soon as we got married, Cheri wanted a bigger house (God knows a two bedroom house with a full basement isn't big enough for two people) She kept finding houses with all the Foofy-girly stuff and no workspace ("You can build a workshop off the garage" - "Honey, we can't afford the HOUSE, how are we going to afford a $30,000 addition???" ) So one day I finally said, "Ok, I'll admit we could use more room, BUT, I want a great workshop with direct access to the garage" I figured she'd NEVER find a house that would satisfy BOTH of our wants. TWO DAYS LATER she calls me up and says "You've GOT to come see this house" And I'm thinking, "Yea yea yea, here we go again" So I walk in, and see all the foofy stuff, and finally I say, "Does it have a workshop with direct... Etc?" Then she brings me downstairs - I got out my checkbook. Moral of the story - You gotta FIGHT for what you want! And MANLAND was worth fighting for!!!! |
RE: Post ur shops here!!!!
Ken, that's the World Models Ultimate 120R that I reviewed last Summer - Really good plane!
I've got a YS 110 in it and it's too much. I think a 91 surpass would be perfect |
