Hanger 9 Arrow

Does anyone know if the Hanger 9 Arrow has servo bays installed if you wanted to go with 2 aileron servos? I have reviewed their manual on line and there is no mention of this option. I will buy this pane if it has that option already built in. My Nexstar is about worn out and I want a semi symetrical high wing plane to play with. Thanks

If your not afraid of modifying it then it really does not matter. Build some bays in it. Use your nexstar's bays as a starting point.

I don't believe the Arrow has bays as part of the standard wing but as said before it would not be difficult to modify for this. Be sure to do the mod before joining the wing to make routing the wiring easier. You may need to cut holes to route the wing servo wiring. This is MUCH easier before wing joining.

Good luck on your choices.

Here are a few pictures to help you see different ways of putting in a servo bay in the wing.

Hope these help

In stock form, the Arrow does not have two bays for aileron servos. You will have to build a second bay to accomodate the separate servo. This is not difficult, and you can use any of the techniques already mentioned.

I've been through two Arrows. My current Arrow is flying with a single aileron servo, so I can't tell you if flaperons will make any difference (assuming that's why you're interested in the dual aileron setup). On a previous Arrow, after a higher than normal speed encounter with Mother Earth, I re-built it with dual aileron servos mounted outboard in the wing, and also cut the ailerons and created flaps (more servo mounting bays!), then set the whole thing up to perform "crow" mixing. The Arrow climbed when I dropped the flaps, but I never got to really figure out what it would do at lower throttle settings. It was an interesting experiment, unfortunately cut short when the engine failed on a really windy day and the plane paid a visit to our local gravel pit. The wing didn't survive that one!

You can also look at a Midwest Aerostar, one of the other high winged semi-symetrical aerobatic trainers. It's designed for dual aileron servo's, and comes with the servo bays already cut in the wing.

Thanks for all the info. I heard they quit making the midwest aerobat. Anyone know where I might get one?

Wow, thanks for the link to the specials page. The regular price is $154.95 for one. I just ordered two for $169.99 from the specials page. I really like the dual aileron servo setup and the double landing gear blocks so you can go tricycle or taildragger. Can't wait for the big box to arrive. How do I explain this to my wife?

For that, you are on your own. Good luck with that too. :D

Flowers or a nice night out might help.

I did the duel servos on mine took all of 20 mins just make a templete of the one thats on it cut one out of ply then mount it right next to the one that's there
trim out the balsa and mount the servo hook up the linkage and your done it will still fit inside the fuselage for a clean look if your set it up with flaps it really slows it down for final
too

Bubba, you've got a great airplane coming. I reviewed that plane 2 or 3 years ago and I loved it!

Hey MinnFlyer- I read a review about the Aerobat on MA Sport Aviator. Where would I find your review?

Bruce, thanks for the links. Well more good news. The wife has no problem with another plane. In fact since they don't make em anymore I am going to order another one tomorrow. She uses that logic all the time!!!
