What size engine??????

Howdee,
I'm converting a Kyosho Cardinal 177 electric to glow. This model has a 48" wingspan with about 10 degrees dihedral. What is the largest/smallest engine I can use? The glow kit from Kyosho comes with a .10 engine but I have heard the plane is very under-powered. Thanks! Mike |
What size engine??????
Probably a .15-.25 would be best. A .40 would be way overkill, and quite a bit heavier than a 25.

A 40 size 4 stroke would be nice in that plane.Plenty of power and sound great too. ;)

You could even consider a .30 size 4-stroke.
I have an old Kadet Senorita (63" wing) that flies real well on a .26 4-stroke. Of course, it is an exercise in "flying on the wing" rather than brute power - no unlimited vertical here. Again, as was mentioned above, check out the weights of all the possible engines. With the dihedral, it sounds like a good trainer type and you don't want to go turniing it into a lead sled. Take care, and let us know what you end up doing and how it comes out. |

Better stick to the 15-20 sze 2 stroke. Putting a 4-stroke on a small plane like that could increase the wing loading too much.
Where in MN are you? |
What size engine??????
I think I'm gonna try a .20 if I can find a used one.
b.t.w. I live in Hopkins Mike |

Watch the 20 this plane will park fly on 049. Put a streemer on and go for it. 09 to 15.
