installing ailerons on a alpha 40

Hi, i had a question about the T-pins ... i am about to install the aileron on the wings but i need to have the t pins to put in the middle of the hinge... am i right? do i really need the t pins because there is none in the kit i have... i have the hinges but not the t pins.... and if so, do you need to put the pin trough the hinge in the middle but not in the so called slot...?

thanks

Marc-André

the only reason for useing t pins is to make sure the hinges are centered and helps to keep them from slipping.you could actually use toothpicks as long as you use a needle or stickpin to make the hole first.i have just marked the center of ca hinges with pencil and put them in that way.

most kits reccoment you do that center drill the slots to leach the ca in more evenly

Hi Macus028, you should check out Eric Henderson's article on CA hinging at the AMA's Sport Aviator website:

Good luck!

don't use tooth picks they are too big and space the aieleron too far away. either buy some t pins or use regular common pins that come with shirts to keep the hinge from slipping too far in. Remeber glue all hinges on a surface at the same time and both surfaces of the connection point. What I mean to say is dont stick the hinges into the wing then glue them and then put the aielrons on and glue that because the hinge won't take glue a second time

check it out and let me know what you guys think of that, this aileron came out of the box with a curve on the side where it needs to attach to the trailing edge of the wing. I allready glued the shaft that goes in the aileron with 5 min epoxy and i am about to glue the inges in place.

should i go on like this or get a new aileron? Am i to picky?

thank
